Lindsy + Eric’s Hot Pink and Navy Floral Wedding Invitations

For her cousin’s wedding this past may, designer Kate Holgate was inspired by the garden reception location to create these beautiful floral wedding invitations! The design features classic navy and white for the main invitation, with vibrant watercolor flowers throughout the suite. Absolutely gorgeous!

From Kate: Lindsy is my cousin and I was thrilled when she got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Eric. They are an amazing couple. Lindsy and Eric were married in May at a formal Catholic church in Connecticut. The ceremony was followed by a gorgeous reception in a garden. When designing their invitations, I wanted to capture the beauty of springtime flowers….floral watercolors punctuated every piece.

Paired with navy, sophisticated type and textured felt paper, the suite was elegant and classy. Eric plays hockey so we even subtly incorporated some symbolism in their monogram. Their wedding could not have been a more perfect occasion. They are now expecting their first baby in February, so more happy occasions are ahead!

DIY Tutorial: Stamped Nautical Tri-Fold Wedding Invitation Suite

Shades of blue, anchor motifs, ships and rope… you could say that we are a pretty obsessed with nautical design. In this invitation suite, we created a stamped, fold out invitation with nautical details in mind. After discovering how easy and useful a fold out card is in a previous tutorial, we wanted to explore the format more and translate it into a full invitation. This would be perfect for a nautical seaside affair! To make this week even more fun, we’ve included a free download of the watercolor ocean-scape to make this tutorial a breeze. Enjoy! – Bailey and Emma of Antiquaria

Step One: After downloading and printing the nautical tri-fold design (see bottom of post for download link). You will need 11″ x 17″ card stock to print the ocean scape. Next trim the card down at the crop marks to reach the final size (15″ x 7″). We used a self healing mat, metal ruler and craft knife for this step. If cutting many cards, we recommend taking them to a local printer to have them cut them all at once with an industrial cutter.

Step Two: Score the card twice: once at the 5″ mark and the other at the 10″ mark. Those will be your fold lines for the card but do not fold it yet!!

Step Three: Gather all of your stamps and lay them out to make certain that you have a stamping plan. The stamps we used for this design, from left to right are our Anchor Monogram Wedding Date Stamp, Vintage Calligraphy Invitation Stamp, Calligraphy Accent Accommodations Stamp and Calligraphy Accent Website Card Stamp. Once you have your plan, you will ink each stamp and align it into its appropriate space. For a step-by-step video tutorial about the stamp printing process go here.

Step Four: Fold the card at the score marks. Use a bone folder to create crisp folds.

Step Five: Since the reply card will need to be sent back to you, we designed it as a separate piece. We used a white stamp pad with our Calligraphy Accent Reply Postcard Stamp on a navy A6 card (4″ x 6″).

Step Six: Adding a printed envelope liner is a great way to add color and pattern to your save the date design. To make the liner, trace the template onto your printed paper (we used our  Watercolor Stripe in Ocean text weight) and cut it out with scissors. To install, simply use stick glue or double sided tape to adhere them into your envelope.

Step Seven: Next, you will stamp your return address on the back flap of your A7 envelope. We used our Scripted Return Address Stamp with navy blue ink for this design.

All that’s left is to add some gorgeous vintage postage (ours is from Verde Studio) and address them to your guests! We guarantee that they will be stoked to receive them in the mailbox and will be counting the days until your celebration!

Party Paper: Row Row Row Your Boat Party

Nursery rhymes are great starting points for little one’s parties. If they have a favorite, why not use it as a jumping off point for party inspiration? That’s just what I did here with the classic and beloved Row Row Row Your Boat. If you’re like me and sad to see summer go, this theme is also a great excuse to keep the nautical vibe alive! —Kelly

A Backyard Cocktail Party with St-Germain

Today I’m thrilled to share another installment in our Summer Cocktail Series with St-Germain! From Memorial Day to Labor Day, I equate summer with lots of BBQs and grilling. Now that we have a backyard – for the first time in more than 10 years! – I couldn’t resist the idea of a backyard cocktail party. We started with a color palette of red, peach, navy, and kraft paper, mixed up some delicious cocktails with our favorite liqueur (and our first mocktail!), and threw some food on the grill. Oh, and I may have gone a bit flower crazy with this one… but I think you’ll see why in just a bit!

Let’s start with the best part: the invitations! Katie from Idlewild Co. created a beautiful invitation using her hand lettering and an ombre painted background. Navy envelopes with white ink calligraphy from Michele of Meant to Be Calligraphy was the perfect finishing touch.

Michele also created a beautiful calligraphy chalkboard cocktail menu, which I accented with a baby’s breath garland.

I’m a big fan of sending guests home with a sweet treat. We kept it simple with chocolate chip cookies in kraft paper bags, again with Michele’s beautiful calligraphy in white ink.

Sangria is the perfect summer drink, and easy to make in large batches! I’m absolutely in love with this fruity sangria recipe – which we’ll be sharing just a bit later.

Blueberries and mint = two quintessential summer flavors. This shrub syrup makes for a perfect mocktail when combined with soda water!

These melon, prosciutto, and mozzarella skewers reminded me of our trip to Italy a couple years ago. So delicious. And grilled watermelon salad? Yum!

For the floral arrangements, I combined several of my favorite flowers in small mason jars. Red and white anemones, peach zinnia, dark red dahlias, lavender, queen anne’s lace, and dusty miller leaves. I also combined several handfuls of tiny chamomile flowers more visual impact. I was in complete flower heaven!

Sophie Style: Summer 2013

I’ll admit it: I have way too much fun dressing Sophie every morning. Even though I largely limit myself to sale sections, I’ve been able to find some really adorable outfits. Her closet is full of pretty patterns (stripes and polka dots are favorites, of course), fun colors, and lots of interchangeable pieces. Now that she’s crawling, I like to pair leggings (to protect her little knees) with sleeveless tops, but on really hot days I’ll switch to shorts or a simple dress. These are a few of my favorite outfits in Sophie’s closet this summer:
