Baseball-Inspired Bar Mitzvah Invitations

It’s been a while since I had the pleasure of featuring a Bar Mitzvah invitation, so I was thrilled when Jill from PS Paper sent over this baseball-inspired invitation that she designed for Ashton’s Bar Mitzvah in San Francisco. Jill incorporated Ashton’s love for the San Francisco Giants throughout the invitation suite, using a real baseball as the actual invitation. So fun!

From Jill: Earlier this year Ashton (a huge San Francisco Giants fan) had the most amazing Bar Mitzvah celebration at AT&T park planned by Laurie Arons Special Events.  It was a once in a lifetime experience for the lucky attendees.  Guests were able to swing in the actual batting cages, which was then followed by dinner and dancing in the club level of the park.

First we designed the save the date. We wanted to do something that would be fun and also get people excited. We decided to do an old fashioned event poster with a photo of Ashton. The poster kept the exact location of the celebration a secret, but gave the theme of the party and got people guessing about where the location might be.

For the invitation, I was able to modify the SF Giants logo to use Ashton’s initials of AF.  The AF logo was printed on a real baseball, which invited people to the party at AT&T park.  We had an separate card on top of the box inviting guests to the Bar Mitzvah service.  At the reception, each table was named for a beloved Giants player – guests were given baseball trading cards for the player that corresponded with their table.

Kylie + Andrew’s Fiji Destination Wedding Invitations

Kylie from the Australia-based Peachy Flamingo and her fiancé Andrew will be married in Fiji (!!) next spring. When it came time to design the wedding invitations, Kylie drew inspiration from the wedding location and traditional Fijian paintings. The invitation was letterpress printed in a soft gray ink and enclosed in a muslin bag along with a clay tag stamped with Kylie and Andrew’s initials.

From Kylie: Our wedding invitations were inspired by the location of the wedding – Fiji. I incorporated hand drawn patterns found in traditional Fijian Tapa Paintings into the design, particularly in the border around the main invitation.

Since we’re having a destination wedding, I wanted to add an element of travel to the invitation suite. I designed luggage tags for guests to use on their suitcases for the trip over.

Ana + Pedro’s Modern Organic Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! We’re starting the week with a fun modern wedding invitation from the talented team of Sofia and André of Brancoprata, a wedding design company based in Portugal. For this invitation, Sofia was inspired by the concept of organic romance. She started with a neutral color palette of kraft paper paired with black and white, then incorporated illustrated details for a sweet and modern design.

From Sofia: Our inspiration was a modern take on organic romance. We started with the idea of designing a simple garland for the names of the bride and groom. Silhouettes, graphic stripes, and playful fonts complete the design.

Since we were going for a modern look, stripes seemed perfect for the envelope containing the couple’s contacts! Here in Portugal we don’t use rsvp cards, so instead I paired a smaller envelope with a card that guests could use to write down messages for the bride and groom!

{happy weekend!}

Ever have one of those weeks where you felt like you just couldn’t keep up? That was totally this week for me, between baby tummy trouble and a poor husband that caught my cold from last week (of course). I’m looking forward to a relaxed weekend with my two loves – my favorite kind of weekend! But in the meantime…
