Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Art Deco

With last weekend’s premiere of the new Great Gatsby movie (Who’s seen it!?), I thought it was high time I did a roundup of Art Deco inspired wedding stationery! While we know it will be a trend now, a lot of the distinct typography and unique motifs are timeless! You can also play around with some dramatic hues, mixed with black and gold. Jamie + Aaron’s Modern Romantic Destination Wedding Invitations

These destination wedding invitations fromÂ Made by KaraÂ combine the groom’s modern style with the bride’s romantic sensibilities. Kara incorporated letterpress printing and white foil with a color palette inspired by the island wedding venue â€“ Anguilla! The resulting invitation is elegant and sophisticated, with lots of beautiful subtle texture.

From Kara:Â When Jamie and Aaron approached me to design their wedding invitations they asked for something unique that would “marry” their individual design sensibilities (the groom has more of a modern taste while the bride’s is more romantic). They also knew that inviting guests all the way to Anguilla was a big ask, so they wanted the save the invitation materials to excite their loved ones about the unique destination.

The suite was inspired by the colors and textures of the island. The invitation arrived in a custom folder, with stacked cards outlining the details of the wedding weekend. The letterpress, blind emboss, and white foil added texture to the simple design.

The save the date took on a playful format, personalized with each guest’s name and airport code and wrapped in a ticket sleeve.Â This was truly a designer’s dream job â€” Jamie and Aaron were amazing to work with and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

April + Matt’s French Garden Party Wedding Invitations

These beautiful wedding invitations from Nichole at Coral PheasantÂ combine garden parties with French inspiration with such delightfully whimsical results! Nichole also made sure to adhere to the bride’s wish to use sustainable materials and practices when producing the wedding invitations. The quirky font and calligraphy by Brown LinenÂ is the perfect finishing touch!

From Nichole:Â April and Matt were married late last summer. The vision for their day was inspired by 1920s garden parties and the delightful French movie Amelie. It was also important to AprilÂ that sustainable materials be used. With this inspiration in hand we developed a playful suite with free-flowing text typeset in a quirky calligraphy font.

The main invitation was letterpress printed on double-thick 220# ecru Crane’s Lettra while all the enclosures wereÂ letterpress printed on 110# Lettra. Lettra is a 100% cotton sheet isÂ made from cotton fibersÂ gleaned from the cotton seeds, after having been cleaned for garmentÂ production and before being processed for cotton seed oil. This made it a perfect choice to honor April’s request of using sustainable materials.

French elements were brought into the design on the RSVP and the quote that graces the inside of the kraft mailer. I love when I’m given the opportunity to have fun with the RSVP envelope and can integrate the stamp in a dynamic way. In this instance, the stamp was framed in flourishes the complimented the font. To ensure the envelope would travel successfully through the mail, we did a test mailing before having the envelopes printed. The cards were tucked inside the kraft mailer creating a unique package for guests to open and experience.

The kraft mailer was made from 100% post consumer waste and all the inks wereÂ soy based. The cherry on top? My printer has a strict recycling and conservation programÂ and uses bicycle messengers for the majority of their local deliveries.Â The mailer was sealed with a strip of wash tape and addressed with the beautiful calligraphy of Brown Linen.

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Mint

I tend to gravitate towards bright, vibrant colors (Remember this post all about emerald?), but when springtime begins to roll around, pastels start tugging at my heart. Mint appears to be the “it” pastel of the season and I am not complaining! The hue happens to pair perfectly with gold, too, making me love it just that much more. Here are a few wonderful ways to incorporate this springy shade into your wedding day! â€” Kelly

Reis + Jaymee’s Rehearsal Dinner Invitations and Wedding Stationery

As promised, I have Reis + Jaymee’s rehearsal dinner invitations and day-of stationery to share with you! Jaymee put a lot of thought and care into each element of her wedding stationery, from the rehearsal dinner menu to the favor bags. My favorite part? Definitely the newspaper-style ceremony programs! Such a great way to introduce the bridal party for friends and family that may not have had an opportunity to meet them beforehand!
