Seasonal Stationery: 2014 Calendars, Part 4

Last week I featured a few of my favorite write-on 2014 calendars, so this week I thought I’d head in the opposite direction and pull together a few favorite calendars that pull double duty as art for your walls! Simply find an open spot, hang one of these beauties, and enjoy year round! And for some, you can even cut the calendar part off at the end of the year and continue to enjoy the art as a stand alone print. What could be better?

Seasonal Stationery: 2014 Calendars, Part 3

I love calendars for their beautiful artwork, but it can be useful to have a big calendar where our entire family can keep track of appointments and events. Naturally, I always prefer written calendars to online versions, so today I thought I’d round up a few of my favorite write-on 2014 calendars!

{happy weekend}

Happy Friday everyone. Truth is, I’m having a really hard time keeping a smile on my face these days. Despite what some on the television news might want you to think, this shutdown does affect real people. My husband and several of our close friends are among the 800,000 federal government employees furloughed until the government reopens. With the shutdown, half our income immediately disappeared. No expectation of backpay and no idea when he might be allowed to go back to work. The last shutdown lasted nearly three weeks. I’m trying to look on the bright side of things and be thankful that our situation isn’t worse. I’ve also never been more grateful for leaving federal employment three years ago, so that I can at least continue to earn while Congress gets its act together. With all of this uncertainty, this is a pretty scary time for our family. But it has also gotten us thinking about some larger changes we’d like to make in our life. Changes that will help us live our life on our own terms, rather than the whims of politicians. But in the meantime…

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone! My sweet Sophie had a big week: she started daycare on Tuesday! She did great this week, but I was a complete wreck on her first day. We’re all still figuring out our new routine, but it turns out that I’m approximately 800% more productive when I don’t have a whirlwind baby to chase after during the day. I miss my girl while she’s at daycare, but getting things done? So. Good. Today she’s home with me, so I’m heading out to enjoy this beautiful fall weather with her. But in the meantime…
