Rustic Farm to Table Watercolor Save the Dates

Okay, the tiny illustrations of beets and carrots in these rustic farm to table watercolor save the dates are pretty much the cutest things I’ve ever seen. Created by Amanda at Wide Eyes Paper Co. for the wedding of two chefs, the save the dates feature plenty of Amanda’s signature watercolor illustrations, along with an engraved wood tag for some extra personality.

From Amanda: These save the dates were created specifically for two chefs that found love in the kitchen. Kelly and Jeremy are having a romantic and intimate farm to table rustic soirée at Buttermilk Farms in Milton, New York. The design was such a fun project to work on.  Our shop is used to creating custom watercolor portraits of couples venue or locations, but Kelly and Jeremy wanted a more natural, organic feel to their announcements with a little more attention to subtle details seen within the cards we designed.

We carefully crafted a 4×6″ postcard style save the date with watercolor greenery in representation of herbs in a garden, as well as some watercolor beets and carrots as an accent to their farm to table theme.  I love the little details seen throughout these special cards.

Additionally, the save the dates were printed on 100 percent recyclable natural kraft card and paired with a banner style engraved wood tag to complete the set.

Modern Fiesta Wedding Celebration Invitations

These gorgeous invitations totally had me at the sun-bleached desert color palette. Dreamy shades of peach, pink, blue, and green mixed with kraft paper? Yes, please. The modern fiesta wedding celebration invitations from Lauren at Charm & Fig feature white foil on kraft paper for the main invitation, geometric patterns, and several different paper finishes. So creative!

From Lauren: Lindy and Chris are an adorable LA couple with endless creativity: they write, produce, act, model… you name it. A few months after they became engaged, they had a very sweet and private wedding ceremony on the beautiful beaches of Malibu, California. With the blessing of the couple, the parents planned one fabulous Tex-Mex fiesta to honor the newlyweds in their home state.

Since this invitation was all about the celebration, we skipped a lot of the formalities and focused on an energetic invitation that would capture the couples’ creative personalities and playful style. Knowing a little bit about the couple, I wanted the suite to feel like it was telling a story with color, layers and texture. To illustrate this, we used a sun-bleached color palette, geometric patterns, and multiple paper finishes.

The invitation was white foil-printed on kraft paper – a simple color scheme that found a perfect balance with the complexity of the design. We were able to pick up some of the Navajo-inspired patterns on the invitation and use them throughout the suite to unify each piece. The map, directions and registry information were printed on a transparent white vellum to add another layer to the ethereal suite.

As a gift, the groom’s mother commissioned custom thank you notes for Chris and Lindy. We used the L+C cross monogram from the RSVP card and had it gold-foiled stamped on crisp white paper for an effortlessly luxe look.

A vintage-looking postcard RSVP was a must! It kept things casual and afforded us another opportunity to add gorgeous imagery – in this case, a dreamy desert scene with pops of blush, green and dusty blue hues. On the flip side, we added a place to write advice for the newlyweds, of which the answers will undoubtedly provide insight, joy and maybe a couple of laughs years to come.

Gah! Did April fly by in about half a second for anyone else? So crazy! But I’m super happy to welcome May – it’s National Stationery Show month!! And of course we have a couple of gorgeous illustrated wallpapers from Katie of The Good Twin to welcome the new month, including a mini pep talk for any stationers preparing to exhibit at the show (like Katie!). I’m also doing something a wee bit different and adding in one of my own wallpapers this month: an iridescent image that I’ve been enjoying on my own devices and thought I’d share! Enjoy!

A Parisian Margarita

We were all set to spend our last Friday of the month with something a little different. Maybe a Ramos Tequila Fizz? Maybe a Mezcal Old Fashioned? But then something very sad happened: Rob Cooper, the creator of St-Germain, died on Monday. He was 39. So, we decided to close this month instead with a simple, classic Tequila recipe showcasing Rob’s most perfect liqueur. – Andrew

St-Germain Margarita Cocktail Recipe / Oh So Beautiful Paper

A St-Germain Margarita

2 oz Tequila
1 oz Lime Juice

3/4 oz St-Germain
1/4 oz Agave Nectar

Add all the ingredients to a shaker filled two-thirds with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled coupe glass or a lowball glass filled with crushed ice. Enjoy!

This is a rich, fruity spin on a classic Margarita, full of big floral notes from the St-Germain’s elderflowers and silky from the liqueurs thick texture. St-Germain really is a wonderful ingredient to work with, and it genuinely pairs well with just about everything. We had a chance to work with St-Germain as a sponsor for a couple of years, and it was a real pleasure to see how it worked in all sorts of different recipes.

Rob developed St-Germain back in 2007, right when the craft cocktail movement was just taking off. It’s become so ubiquitous that people call it “bartender’s ketchup,” a really inelegant way of saying that it ends in a lot of drinks because it works so well, sometimes fruity, sometimes floral, always delicious. It’s so familiar that it’s hard to imagine that its Art Deco bottle is less than a decade old, and that St-Germain hasn’t been around since the 1920s.

Rob sold St-Germain to Bacardi, but his company Cooper Spirits Co. also helped revive some classic spirits, Creme Yvette and Rock-n-Rye (check them out, seriously!). If all he had done was craft St-Germain, though, he’d still be remembered for changing the face of modern cocktails.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! It has been a rainy and gloomy week here in DC, which is kind of the perfect weather for getting things done indoors. I’ve been busy making decorations for this year’s Paper Party at the National Stationery Show, which is coming up in just a couple of weeks!! But in the meantime…
