Laura + Ben’s Traditional Letterpress Wedding Invitations

There’s something just inherently romantic about a pink and dove gray wedding invitation, and these classic letterpress invitations from Fabienne at Nuage Designs are no exception. Fabienne was inspired by the bride’s love of tea parties and feminine things, incorporating a subtle floral pattern and script font to complement the traditional invitation wording.

From Fabienne: Laura was like a sister to me growing up: we’ve known each other since before I could tie my shoes. When I discovered she was getting married, I was so excited to help create her wedding invitations. Laura and Ben asked me to create a traditional invitation that included a honey bee – which was symbolic of a memory they shared together in England.

Laura and I share an attraction to feminine-looking objects. We enjoyed each others company as children, setting up for tea parties with our dolls in one hand and our cucumber sandwiches in the other. Her taste hasn’t really changed from her youth and I knew right away what kind of invitation she was looking for.

Laura sent me images of vintage tea tins, invitations with shades of pinks and floral wreaths, and illustrations of honeybees. I knew right away we needed to include all of these  details into one invitation without making it look too over the top. I was excited to offer her a blind deboss of a floral border and round cut edges for a softer look. The invitation text moves your eye to a honey bee printed in a blossom pink at the bottom.

Laura felt it was important that we keep some traditional elements. It was necessary that we use the proper wording and the traditional inner/outer envelope concept. She also requested that I design two monograms – one for before and one for after the wedding. The monogram for pre-marriage was used on the reverse side of the RSVP card and the monogram for post-marriage was made into a stamp to be used for Thank You cards.

Pretty + Paper

I love the way that the same shade of purple can go from being light and airy (like in yesterday’s wedding invitations) to dark and moody (like in the bouquet below).  Add metallic gold foil for instant elegance and glamour that would be perfect for any season of the year.

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Die-Cutting

I’m making you think outside of the box, quite literally, today! You can easily add an extra layer of interest and dimension to your day-of wedding stationery with unique die cut shapes. Die cutting can be used to create a geometric statement with your place cards or to add an intricate border to your menu cards. The process can also be used to cut out a shape within your paper goods, making a perfectly refreshing wedding monogram, for example. I’m positive this technique can be applied to just about any wedding style or theme, be it a rustic fall soiree (think leaves and natural motifs) or a modern loft affair (read: crisp lines and bold silhouettes)! — Kelly

Anjali + Suchit’s Elegant Gold Foil Hindu Wedding Invitations

Bride and groom Anjali and Suchit wanted invitations that were both elegant and modern to complement their Hindu wedding.  Designer Rashi Birla created a wedding invitation suite that combines gold foil and deep royal purple letterpress elements, along with an airy botanical pattern and classic type throughout the suite.  Gorgeous!

From Rashi: Anjali and Suchit have a keen eye for design and wanted to take a modern approach to their Hindu wedding. Anjali loves letterpress and there was no question that I was going to design the invitation with letterpress printing in mind. We wanted the invitation to feel airy and simple, but with Indian touches. I created an organic pattern that was used throughout the suite.

The invitation text was set to look elegant and regal. We decided to use gold foil and purple letterpress for the two main cards. The deep purple envelopes were also stamped in gold foil.

To save costs, we printed the reception, Sangeet, and ceremony RSVP cards digitally in purple and yellow (a ‘Sangeet’ is an Indian tradition and a big pre-wedding party that happens the night before a wedding). A gold folder with gold cord and contrasting green ribbon completed the look.

Jenny + Mark’s “Tie the Knot” Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  These “Tie the Knot” wedding invitations and save the dates from Dennis at Clutch Design are such an adorable theme for high school sweethearts Jenny and Mark.  The design features playful step by step instructions, starting with the save the dates, along with sweet illustrations and modern typography.

From Dennis: Mark and Jenny were high school sweethearts going back 12 years.  Their close friends and family would occasionally joke about when or if they would ever get married.  When they did decide to tie the knot, they chose to have the ceremony and reception immersed in the outdoor nature setting of Harmony Ridge Lodge, Nevada City.

They wanted the invitation to reflect their personality.  The idea was an easy to follow, step-by-step “Tie the Knot” theme inspired by the Boy Scouts.  A short hike down to the Scotts Flat Lake provided the dragonfly inspiration that Jenny was passionate about.  The wedding colors were orange and steel blue which we incorporated in the letterpress printed invitations and save the dates.
