Coffee is a pretty big part of my life. I start every morning with a nice big mug of coffee before I do anything else – even my toddler knows that mama needs her coffee first thing! I usually enjoy my first cup of coffee while my youngest daughter plays and crawls around before her morning nap. Each day is different for me depending on what’s on the agenda for that particular week. Today my morning plans include working on my to do list for the rest of the week, writing some thank you notes, and doing some business planning for OSBP. Coffee is absolutely in order!

My dad is a coffee drinker, and since I’m pretty much a carbon copy of my dad it comes as no surprise that I inherited his love of coffee. So many of my childhood memories involve slow weekend mornings sitting on the couch with my dad listening to music or reading while he finished his morning coffee. My dad and I also made frequent after-dinner trips to our local ice cream parlor. My dad always ordered chocolate, and I always ordered vanilla. We’re both creatures of habit. The Coffee-Mate Classic Vanilla flavored creamer takes me right back to those ice cream evenings with my dad!

Now that I’m an adult and my tastes are a bit more sophisticated, I still love classic vanilla – but with a twist! Vanilla and rose water is one of my very favorite combinations, and it tastes amazing in coffee! Luckily it’s also a super easy recipe to create at home, so you can enjoy it on a daily basis. Win win!

Rose Water Vanilla Coffee Recipe with Coffee-mate Classic Vanilla flavored creamer / Oh So Beautiful Paper

To make your Rose Water Vanilla Coffee, start by brewing a cup or two of your favorite (unflavored) coffee. Then add a dash of rose water to the Coffee-Mate Classic Vanilla flavored creamer – about 1/4 tsp of rose water per 2 ounces of flavored creamer. A little rose water goes a long way! Stir the rose water into the creamer then add the Rose Water Vanilla mixture to your coffee. Enjoy!

Copper Foil and Navy Iceland Wedding Invitations

There are so many places in the world that I want to visit someday – and Iceland is definitely in my Top 5! Lyndsey from The Hunter Press recently got married in Iceland, with an intimate ceremony attended by 10 family members. Lyndsey designed the most beautiful copper foil and navy invitations for her destination wedding – I’m so happy she’s sharing them here today!

From Lyndsey: I run a letterpress printing and design studio in Scotland called The Hunter Press and recently had the pleasure of designing my own wedding invitations. My husband and I married in Iceland in an intimate ceremony, surrounded by just 10 of our family.

When my now-husband Keith popped the question 18 months ago, I went straight to work collating ideas for our invitations. As a designer and printer, the chance to create your own wedding invitations is a big deal and seriously exciting, if a little overwhelming! The invitations were designed in the style of a map book and were printed using a combination of letterpress printing and hot foil.

We were engaged in an lava tunnel in Iceland 18 months previous and instantly made the decision to return to Iceland for our wedding day. Our ceremony took place in a tiny black church on the Snaefellsnes peninsula in Western Iceland, surrounded by only the ocean and mountains. We chose to have an intimate ceremony with just our immediate family present and wanted our invitations to be an extra special keepsake for our guests.

The little black church and neighbouring Budir Hotel were both strong design influences. We wanted to keep the invitations as simple and romantic as possible while bringing in an element of Budir charm. The hotel itself was full of dark features, old maps and various wildlife specimens. Dark blues, rough cottons and suede cords seemed the perfect combination for our stationery.

The invitation cover, centre page and back poem were foil printed in copper onto dark blue Colorplan stock. The foldout map insert was letterpress printed in a warm grey onto textured 100% Cotton Saunders Waterford Stock.  All items were drilled at the top and secured with a copper book screw, allowing each page to swivel open. The map books were then tied with a brown suede cord and packaged within a strong Kraft button and string envelope.

DIY Gold Foil Place Cards

You heard me. DIY. Gold. Foil! At the National Stationery Show in May, I wandered upon a demo in the American Crafts booth of the amazing new Heidi Swapp Minc foil applicator – and I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped all the way to the floor. The Minc makes it possible to foil pretty much anything – you could even foil a spreadsheet if you wanted! Today I’m sharing the first in a series of projects using the Minc foil applicator: DIY gold foil place cards! Just think of all the new foil place card possibilities, from bridal showers to holiday dinners!

The Minc works with a special type of reactive foil that adheres to toner ink. For custom designs, you need to be able to print the foil portion of your design on a laser printer or copier but you don’t need any special design software. You can use Photoshop, Illustrator, or even Word – as long as you can print it out using toner ink you can foil it with the Minc! Heidi Swapp also offers a range of products that you can use for non-custom designs!

These place cards would look gorgeous and completely classic with just gold foil against white paper, but I decided to make things a bit more interesting with a whimsical watercolor background! I used a printable watercolor download from one of Antiquaria’s past DIY tutorials – you could also hand paint your watercolor background!

Supplies

Minc foil applicator and transfer folder

Reactive gold foil

Printable tent cards

Instructions

1. Download the watercolor background right here and print it onto the printable tent cards using an ink jet printer. Print your text in a favorite font on the tent cards (you can find templates right here) using a laser printer. Black toner ink works best with the reactive foil.

2. Cut strips of gold foil just big enough to cover the text you want to foil. Place the foil strips over the printed tent cards, then place everything in the transfer folder foil side up.

3. Run the transfer folder with your tent cards and gold foil through the Minc foil applicator. Peel away any excess foil and voila!
