Inspired By: Cats

If you’ve met me in person – or browsed through my Instagram stream – you probably know that I’m kind of a crazy cat lady. My husband and I adopted two cats when we first started living together, and over the years we’ve rescued a few more, bringing our current total to five – not to mention the foster cats that went on to permanent homes and the friendly semi-feral alley cats that we keep an eye on in our neighborhood. So for any fellow cat people out there, here’s a quick little round up of some favorite feline-themed goodies!

Lauren + Bradley’s Rustic Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

I’m a fan of calligraphy invitations for weddings any time of year, but this invitation from Alex of Goodheart Design combines calligraphy with a rustic vibe perfect for fall! Alex kept the color palette simple, with letterpress printed charcoal gray text on white paper for the invitation and rsvp card, white foil on charcoal gray paper for the accommodations card, and kraft paper envelopes. Such an elegant combination!

From Alex: The inspiration behind this invite was simply color. Lauren wanted a two-toned invitation in ivory and charcoal with a rustic sophisticated vibe. I hand lettered the invitation, rsvp card, info card and the rsvp return address stamp using a calligraphy pen.

The invitation and rsvp are letterpress printed on #220 ivory paper with charcoal ink and the info card is white foil on #220 charcoal paper. The kraft rsvp envelope was stamped with charcoal ink as well.

Hello!Lucky: Imogen’s Pink and Gold Birthday Party

Eunice’s daughter Imogen circled the sun for the first time in style. The theme was pink and gold – inspired by our DIY crowns! The pipe cleaner crowns were fun, easy, cheap, and a huge hit! They were also a party favor so anyone interested could wear their crown home. – Eunice and Sabrina of Hello!Lucky

DIY crowns were made from tinsel stems and jewels from General Bead. Party décor included pink candy striped straws, star cups and napkins, gold foil balloons, and gold star confetti.

The cupcakes and cake were from Sift. The cake was chocolate with salted caramel in between the layers – we sprinkled edible gold stars over it for a little something extra! The menu also included a cheese plate, PB&J sandwiches, homemade gingerbread stars, fruit, and grapefruit mimosas.

Quick Pick: Sugar Paper for Paperless Post

One of my favorite stationers – Sugar Paper – recently released a collection for Paperless Post, both the online service and their PAPER line of actual printed cards and invitations! Even better, this is the first time that Paperless Post is offering gold foil on the printed PAPER line, which any longtime fan will know is a staple of the Sugar Paper aesthetic. The new collection includes more than 40 designs, but here are a few of my favorites!

Lauren + Jeff’s Lace and Kraft Paper Wedding Invitations

White foil and kraft paper is one of my all time favorite combinations – so classic! Megan from Ruby the Fox dressed up these rustic wedding invitations with beautiful lace details, blush pink letterpress (in addition to the white foil on kraft!), ribbon, and a custom wax seal. So romantic!

From Megan: When Lauren, a friend from college, told me that she was getting married and wanted Ruby the Fox to do her wedding stationery, let’s just say I was a little bit excited! After talking about the vibe for her wedding weekend, there is only one word to sum it up: rustic.

We played with a soft and super feminine palette of blush, white, and kraft, and used lots of lace elements throughout. The wedding invitation suite was foil and letterpress printed on a number of different paper stocks, and we pulled in ribbon, twine, and a custom wax seal to tie it all together!
