Paper Artwork – Amy Marcella

I first came across these beautiful gocco prints from Amy Marcella when doing research for my calendar posts and fell in love — the red and gold hues seem so fitting for fall and the holiday season:

I also really love this watercolor painting, titled Molecular Mountains:

Advent Calendars

I didn't grow up with the tradition of doing an advent calendar, but I love this idea of wrapping a secret message around a wooden thread spool:

Check out the full instructions for the spool advent calendar over on Just Something I Made.  But for those of us who might not have the time to DIY an advent calendar, Mibo is offering a free downloadable version:

Are any of you doing advent calendars?

Dutch Folk Art Birthday Calendar

This calendar from The Beautiful Project isn't a traditional yearly calendar — it's a calendar to help keep track of all your loved ones' birthdays!  In designing this calendar, Jeanette from The Beautiful Project was inspired by the relatives of her Dutch husband's family, who all keep similar calendars around their homes.  The calendar features original illustrations based on Dutch folk art motifs and months written in Dutch, with two months printed on each page:

Each 8-page calendar is printed on Mohawk Superfine recycled 120 lb paper and coil-bound.  Jeannette recommends hanging these calendars in the kitchen or bathroom (hey, it works!) with a pen placed nearby and letting friends and family fill them out themselves.  Find 'em in The Beautiful Project shop right here.

2010 Calendars, a few more…

I know, I know, I said the mega round-ups were over, and they are!  But see, there are a few more that just came out or *somehow* weren't included in earlier round-ups but really need to be — so I figured a quick mini round-up is the easiest way to share them with you.  And trust me, these are some really great calendars…

First up, I am completely head over heels in love with this seasonal letterpress calendar from Becca Heuer:

Kirtland House has released two different 2010 letterpress calendars — one named for girls and the another named for boys — each featuring unique imagery each month and a beautiful silhouette on the cover:

I came across this beautiful calendar (available in French and English) by Flora Douville via Chelsea, and love all the beautiful illustrated details in both the wall calendar and perpetual calendar:

2010 Calendar Round-Up, Part 3

It’s finally here!  The final mega-installment of my 2010 calendar round-up has arrived, although I’ll continue to post some calendars individually as they are released over the next few weeks.  This installment ended up being pretty heavy on illustration, and I made sure to include some calendars with writing space in response to some of the feedback on earlier posts.  Enjoy!

So first up, an eco-friendly screen printed tear-away calendar from one of my favorite design duos — Two Trick Pony:
