NSS Sneak Peek: Fine Day Press

Our final NSS sneak peek of the day comes from Ashley of Fine Day Press (Booth #2046)! This year Ashley is debuting a cheerful new letterpress greeting collection that combines hand-illustrated type with bold and bright colors, along with calendars, watercolor prints, and six watercolor notecard sets. I can’t wait to see all the new goodies at the show!

NSS Sneak Peek: Moglea

Last year, Meg from Moglea made a huge splash as part of the Ladies of Letterpress booth at the National Stationery Show. This year she’s in her own booth (#2055), and I’m totally giddy at the thought of an entire booth full of Meg’s whimsical stationery! This year’s collection includes new watercolor and dip dye greeting cards, letterpress printed jotters, mailing labels, wrapping paper, and gift tags, and a new calendar, along with social stationery like boxed notes and petite versions of Moglea’s “Letterquette” stationery sets. So exciting!

Emma + Finn’s Floral New York City Wedding Invitations

I’m always a fan of floral designs, but even more so during this time of year – when flowers and trees are in bloom all over my neighborhood of Capitol Hill. I just can’t resist all the pretty blossoms! Jessica from Moira Design Studio sent over these floral invitations that she designed for a spring wedding at the Central Park Boathouse in New York City. She combined the feminine floral designs with an illustration of the New York City skyline. So pretty!

From Jessica: Feminine details of hand painted spring flowers and leaves are perfect for this spring wedding in Central Park. Emma and Finn wanted to set the tone of romance and spring time, and wanted to focus their invitations with some custom artwork to reflect both their artistic careers. We paired the blush flowers with a simple watercolor of the New York city skyline to further tie the Park and the city together.

The skyline lined the mailing envelope, and also was printed on the reverse side of the invitation. The floral pattern adorns the back of the response card as well as the response envelope.  We addressed the envelopes in matching calligraphy for a unified look. We love working with different mediums, this suite was created with gouache and watercolor paint, as well as calligraphy ink.

{happy weekend!}

This week was a flurry of activity, both at home with our never-ending to do list (we’re still unpacking a month after moving in), a very active getting-ready-to-crawl baby, and a ton of prep work in advance of the National Stationery Show in just a few short weeks! I’m so excited to head back to one of my favorite cities and see some of my favorite people, and yes, of course Sophie will be coming along! Thankfully my dad is coming down this weekend to help us get a few things done around the house. But in the meantime…

Ashley + Joe’s Watercolor and Lace Wedding Invitations

These wedding invitations from designer Crissie McDowell are so utterly romantic – but what else would you expect from a suite that combines watercolor, a lace doily, and lots of glitter?!? Crissie developed the design with spring in mind, creating a beautiful save the date with a watercolor botanical pattern and wedding invitations that continued the watercolor inspiration. So pretty!

From Crissie: Ashley and Joe hired me to photograph their upcoming wedding this May as well as design their wedding invitation suite. Ashley is my boss’s daughter at our marketing agency. Pressure was on. Ashley had a very clear vision of what she envisioned from her day. Her ceremony will be taking place in a botanical garden and her reception will be indoors at a more modern venue. She wants a combination of romantic, soft, elegant and modern. Oh, and a whole lot of glitter.

I hand painted the illustration for her save the dates with a botanical look in mind. We wanted to continue with the hand painted look so I used a watercolor pattern on all of the invitation suites, digitally printed. We did a blind emboss on Ashley and Joe’s names to make them pop.

We wrapped the entire suite in an intricate lace doily.  For the belly band, we used a textured charcoal paper and did a white foil emboss for the logo. The band was sealed with a piece of glitter tape. The bride had each envelope hand calligraphed.
