Elspet + Thomas’s Whimsical Hand Lettered Wedding Invitations

These whimsical hand lettered wedding invitations come to us from the London-based design studio BerinMade.  Erin from BerinMade was inspired by the bride’s vision of a wedding filled with confetti.  Erin created an invitation suite with a kraft paper and pink color palette with Erin’s beautiful hand lettering in white ink – and of course, lots of confetti hidden in the envelopes!

From Erin: When Elspet and I met up for a chat, we came up with a vision of a fun and confetti-filled wedding celebration.  This is exactly what we did for her three-piece wedding invitation suite.

We wanted to focus in on just a few elements: the quality of the card stock, which is a heavenly brown stock from the GFSmith range; my hand-lettering which was printed with white ink and run several times through the printer to get that lovely solid white; and a scatter of confetti across the invitation suite, on the back and also on the liners.

Then we matched the suite with candy pink and kraft envelopes.  The idea was for loose confetti would also fall out of the envelope as guests opened their invitations, giving a real sense of excitement and festivities.

Rachael + Brian’s Woodland and Fabric Wedding Invitations

Kraft paper and white ink is such a fabulous combination – perfect for a variety of design styles from modern to rustic.  Designer Rachael Ward decided to combine kraft paper, white ink screen printing, and fabric for her woodland wedding invitations.  So pretty!

From Rachael: As a graphic designer and crafter, I knew I wanted to design something that incorporated fabric and gave our guests a peek into our wedding style.  Inspiration came mostly from the location of the wedding, Krippendorf Lodge located within the Cincinnati Nature Center at Rowe Woods.

The overall wedding theme was a combination of vintage and woodland styles.  The color palette was loosely based on robins egg blue, blush pink, ivory, and brown.  The invitations were screen printed using white ink on French Paper‘s 100 lb Speckletone Cover in Kraft.  Then they were wrapped with either a blue or pink floral fabric from Joann Fabric to match the color palette.  A reply card was tied around each card with a coordinating ribbon.

These romantic, vintage, and woodsy invites were perfect for our small wedding.  The combination of paper and fabric made quite an impact on our guests!

Annette + Florian’s Illustrated Floral Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend!  We’re starting the week off with a gorgeous set of illustrated wedding invitations from German designer and illustrator Laura Rosendorfer.  Laura created these invitations for a nature-loving couple getting married a bit later this summer.  The groom hails from coastal northern Germany and the wedding will take place at a lake near the bride’s childhood home, so Laura filled the invitations with whimsical illustrations of boats, flowers, and hearts.  So sweet!

From Laura: Annette and Florian will be married at a lake, so we wanted there to be some elements of boats and water in the invitations.  Annette and Florian are very fond of nature and down to earth; they love clean lines, but also love cheerful colors.  When Annette told me she would have big arrangements of colorful fuchsia and pink peonies at the wedding, the whole invitation set came together quite easily.

Annette had set her heart on having a whimsical illustration of flowers, so I paired the peonies and snowballs with a cute boat, cheerful bunting, and of course hearts.  We chose four vibrant colors – fuchsia and pink from the peonies along with green and blue – and paired it with a lot of white space and dark brown lines to contrast the whimsical illustrations and give it some elegance and softness.

A heart is also the focal point of the invitation – I die cut a heart in every invitation using a small machine at home.  The rsvp card is visible through the heart; if you take it out, there is another little heart to be seen.

We chose mostly eco-friendly materials, like the beautiful brown recycled kraft paper for the envelopes and paper bands around the invitation set.  The invitations were printed using a combination of digital, offset, and screen printing methods.  The envelope liners and the map postcard with the detailed schedule on the back were offset printed on white paper.

I really loved all the small details, like the die cut hearts or the initials on the envelope liners – all of which makes a wedding invitation suite extra special.

Thanks Laura!

DIY Rubber Stamp Fabric Pocket Wedding Invitations

It’s the ladies of Antiquaria, back with another fabulous and creative DIY project for you!  To celebrate the launch of their new custom wedding invitation design studio, this week they’re here with a tutorial for a full wedding invitation suite!

We are so excited for this DIY tutorial because this week, we’ve taken on an entire invitation suite!!!  When we are out and about shopping for vintage house-wares to stock our shop, we like to also pick up remnants of old curtains, sheets, and scarves when we can find them in patterns that we love.  We dug into our stash, using an old fitted sheet to create a lovely fabric pocket that holds all of our invitation suite components.  We love the idea of  using different patterns for each pocket!

Hand Stamped Wedding Invitation Suite

Steps1-3

Step One: Using pinking shears, cut pieces of fabric into 5″ x 9 3/4″ rectangles (for a finished pocket that fits into an A7 envelope).

Step Two: Fold each cut piece of fabric in half and stamp with a monogram stamp (we used our wreath monogram, size large).

Step Three: With the fabric folded, stitch up each side 1/8″ from the edge, creating a pocket that the invitation pieces will slide into.  We suggest that you make one to test the size before you cut all of the pockets.

Step 4

Step Four: For the invitations, cut chipboard to 4.5″ x 6.75″ to fit in the pouch.  Cut the RSVP card to a standard 4 bar size, 3.5″ x 5″.  Ink and print the invitation (we used our Calligraphy Accent Invitation Stamp) and RSVP (we used our Calligraphy Accent Reply Stamp) stamps using even pressure on a hard surface.

Step 5

Reply Envelopes

Step Five: Ink and print return address stamp (we used our Calligraphy Accent Return Address Stamp) on 4 bar envelopes to house your reply cards. Again, using even pressure on a hard surface.  Vintage stamps throughout help complete the overall look!

Materials:

Stamps – Calligraphy Accent Collection (invitation, reply card and return address), wreath monogram, large

Fabric – Either use “found” fabric like we did, or , if you would prefer to buy yardage, we love the prints from Purl Soho.

Pinking shears, sewing machine & thread

Chipboard or Kraft paper – If needed, enlist a framing shop to help you cut chipboard.  Their cutting tools should be able to do the job if you can’t at home.

Envelopes, A7 & 4 bar

Stamp Pad – we used a chestnut brown color

Vintage Postage Stamps

Gabby’s Whimsical Pink + Orange 4th Birthday Party Invitations

Carmela from Fiore Press created these adorable pink and orange letterpress invitations for her daughter’s 4th birthday party a couple of months ago.  Carmela incorporated bright colors, floral design elements, and a cute bunting illustration in the main invitation, along with matching thank you cards and floral envelope liners.  So fun!

From Carmela: I’ve always loved flag banners and I really wanted to print something with bright colors for Gabby’s birthday.  I always hand mix the ink, and I just love the poppy and fuchsia in these invitations –they remind me of rainbow sherbet and summer.  Printing two colors with such tight registration can be tricky, but I love how these came out!

I also printed corresponding thank you notes, and the envelopes are probably my favorite part of the entire invitation.  I love printing on the corner of the envelope and having it spill over onto the flap – who wouldn’t love to get these in the mail?  I used both poppy and fuchsia colored envelopes (mainly because I couldn’t decide between the two!) and used brown ink to print the envelopes, and lined the envelopes with wrapping paper from Snow & Graham.  I loved being able to do these for my daughter.

Carmela even used the same Snow & Graham wrapping paper to frame the invitations after the party!
