Rachael + Noah’s Peacock Save the Dates

You may remember Haley’s unique hand-lettering and illustration style from her super-cool Save the Dates and wedding invitations.  Now that she’s married and living across the pond in the UK, Haley has started working on projects for other brides through her shop, Bread of Many!

Haley created these Save the Dates for Noah and Rachael, who are planning a vintage-inspired wedding on a peacock farm for this August!  As you can imagine, Haley was quite inspired by the wedding venue in creating custom illustrations for the design…

…while also incorporating some of her signature hand-lettering:

Haley is busy working on Noah and Rachael’s wedding invitations, which I cannot wait to see!  In the meantime, you can check out some of Haley’s other projects on her blog and etsy shop.

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  As I type this, the snow has started to fall here in DC in our second big snow storm of the year.  We'll see how much actually sticks on the ground, but I'm looking forward to a weekend of unpacking and hopefully (finally) getting settled into our new home.  Unfortunately, we had to postpone this weekend's bridal show due to the snow, but we've rescheduled for the evening of Tuesday, February 16th, so there's still time to register if you want to come by!  But in the meantime…

Before I head off for the weekend, I also wanted to let you all know that I set up a formspring page — so if you've ever been curious about something or wanting to ask me a question, now's your chance!  Just click here and ask away!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Spanish Garden Party Save the Dates

Alejandra is planning a vintage-inspired Spanish garden party wedding, and she was kind enough to send over photos of her Save the Dates!  Alejandra was inspired by one of my earlier posts (yay!) to incorporate papel picado-inspired details using bold accent colors:

From Alejandra: We are having our wedding in a venue with European architecture with an indoor garden, tons of light coming in, and during brunch.  Being a Latina myself, I wanted my colors to be bold and playful, all the while containing an elegant and classic touch.  After much consideration, I decided that my two main colors would be red and teal.

Alejandra’s Save the Dates were a DIY labor of love — she printed them herself on cardstock and then added some texture by using rubber stamps, embossing powder, and a heat gun from Paper Source.

Love, love, love the gorgeous and bold aqua and red color palette — and that Alejandra used rubber stamps to create the perfect design for her vintage-inspired Spanish garden wedding!  Alejandra is currently working on her wedding invitations, which I absolutely cannot wait to see.  In the meantime, you can follow along with her wedding planning process on her blog, Oops I’m in Love.

Romantic Calligraphy from Danae Hernandez

There are few things that make me happier than beautiful calligraphy — from place cards to marriage certificates to envelopes, I just can't take my eyes off a talented calligrapher's flourishes and hand lettering.  So I was absolutely thrilled when Danae Hernandez sent over a few examples of her lovely, romantic calligraphy:

Calligraphy is equally as lovely when letterpress printed as the wedding invitation itself!  Danae recently hand lettered this simple and elegant wedding invitation, which was then letterpress printed by Jazyrain just outside of Portland, Oregon:

From Danae: The laurel wreath design was inspired by the bride — she had sentimental reasons for wanting to use a laurel wreath. From there, I combined the hand drawn leaf design with calligraphic swirls that would tie it in with the lettering style, which I call "Loopy Luxe."  This lettering style is like most copperplate styles of calligraphy with it's even slant and thick-to-thin lines, but I like to throw in some swirls to give the letters more movement — like they are dancing!  Because it is after all, a celebration.
