{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone — and Happy Easter to those of you celebrating this weekend!  And what a glorious weekend it's turning out to be!  I'm looking forward to catching up with some blog friends in person, trying to find some time to enjoy the cherry blossoms without getting trampled by tourists (seriously, there are a gazillion of them in DC right now), and hopefully painting a couple of rooms back in the apartment.  But in the meantime…

Balloon Save the Dates!

This is one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen in a long time – using a big red balloon as a wedding Save the Date!  What a great way to share some happy news with friends and family:

Created by designers Jen and Kevin for their upcoming wedding, they screen printed the text onto the balloons and letterpress printed the accompanying details on a 5″ x 7″ card.  Check out more details over on FPO!

Carnivals and Spanish Lace

Heidi from Zenadia Design sent over a couple new additions to her invitation portfolio, and I was so excited when I opened up the photos that I couldn't wait to share them both with you!  The first invitation design was inspired by a carnival, and features big red + white stripes and game ticket details on the rsvp:

From Heidi: This invitation features a laser cut outline to match the design on the merry go round and a hand drawn illustration by Francis Birchfield.  Reply card is embellished with vintage carnival tickets and red and white stripes line the mailing envelope.

The second invitation has a more vintage-inspired design, featuring lace details and a Spanish feel:

From Heidi: Printed on luxurious cotton paper, this invitation was designed for an eclectic Spanish style wedding.  The invitation features tea dyed lace, and the reply card envelope is lined in lace.

As a special bonus, Zenadia Design is offering 25% off all couture letterpress invitation suites from now through June 30th.  Thanks Heidi!

Spring Magnolia Wedding Invitations

Now that the trees have finally started blooming here — from the magnolias to the dogwoods to the cherry blossom trees — I haven’t been able to get these magnolia wedding invitations that Sarah posted a while back out of my head:

With magnolias illustrated by Jen from Swallofield, Sarah created these invitations for an upcoming wedding in South Carolina.  I love the color combination of peach and light gray, not to mention the blind debossed magnolias on the main invitation.  So pretty!
