{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  The siren call of the weekend is absolutely calling my name today.  I find myself getting more and more excited for each weekend to arrive, since I know that Fall is only a few more weekends away.  I can’t wait for cooler weather and everything else that Fall brings – the ability to turn off the AC, fall clothing, and changing leaves.  I’m heading off for a weekend with no specific plans, which is actually kind of a nice change – but in the meantime…

And in case you missed it, a quick round up of posts from this week:

That’s it for me this week!  I have stunning wedding invitations from one of my favorite bloggers to share with you next week, so I’ll see you all back here on Monday!

    NYIGF, Part 3

    By the third day up at NYIGF I was beginning to run out of steam, but luckily I met up with Jen from The Haystack Needle and I had a blast walking the show with her on my last day in New York.  I could have spent hours in the Karma Living booth looking at all the vibrant textiles and home accents:

    One of my favorite parts of NYIGF is the global handmade section.  I didn’t take too many photos since most of the global exhibitors only sell wholesale – but I couldn’t resist these gorgeous ikat boxes and notebooks from Seet Kamal:

    Jen and I went up to the Aesthetic Movement booth to say hi to our friends at Austin Press and Yellow Owl Workshop and were pleasantly surprised to see a couple new collections making their debut at the show.  We’re both thrilled to see Virginia Johnson expanding her gorgeous textile collection to include a line of home designs, from quilts and pillows to crib bedding.  So exciting!  I totally forgot to take photos somehow, but luckily Jen came to the rescue (check out more right here):

    Meanwhile, Teroforma is collaborating with artist Leah Duncan on a new collection of patterned linens and accessories:

    Jen and I also came across the booth of International Robot – they have an awesome collection of t-shirts, hoodies, messenger bags, and baby onesies with robots, aliens, zombies, and even Big Foot!  This would have been my husband’s kind of booth if he’d been with me at the show:

    I’ve got one last NYIGF post coming up this afternoon with my favorite picks from this year’s show!

    NYIGF, Part 2

    On Day 2 of the NYIGF I was lucky enough to have my Dad (a professional photographer) join me at the show.  My Dad and I had a great time walking the floor, and I had a blast introducing him to some of my favorite companies exhibiting at the show!  First up for this afternoon, the Jonathan Adler booth – which was, as always, full of color and gorgeous textiles:

    I’m loving the new Jonathan Adler kids collection – the giraffe growth chart and rug are both just too cute!

    We also loved these embroidered pillows, wall hangings, tote bags, and other textiles from Cat Studio – each hand embroidered with emblems from a particular state or region.  Don’t they remind you of vintage post cards?

    Two’s Company had one of the most impressive overall booth designs at the show.  The entire exhibition stretched over several interconnected booths, each with its own custom exterior and decorated with its own theme.  My favorite was the Curiosity Shop with its book page wallpaper and the most beautiful antique cabinet I think I’ve ever seen!

    My Dad also really loved these wood cases from Monacca – a Japan-based company that makes briefcases and purses from several layers of cedar wood veneer.  I’m hoping they’ll start making iPhone and iPad cases soon!

    Any favorites so far?  I’ve got lots more to share, so I’ll be back with more from NYIGF soon!

    {happy weekend!}

    Happy Friday everyone!  This will be a working weekend for me, as tomorrow I’m heading up to the New York International Gift Fair for a couple of days.  It’ll be fun to catch up with the stationery exhibitors at NYIGF and friends in NYC.  But after a busy couple of weeks I’ll be looking forward to a quiet and relaxing weekend next weekend… the Florida girl in me misses my summers by the beach, so I’d love to escape to a tiny town by the water for a weekend.  But in the meantime…

    …a few links for your weekend!

    And just in case you missed it, a few favorite posts from this week!

    That’s it for me this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend – I’ll be back next week with photos from the Gift Fair and lots of other goodies.  See you on Monday!

    Hand Illustrated Save the Dates

    Today I thought I’d go with something sweet and simple – hand lettered save the dates with a custom illustration created by Elaine from Papermade Design.  With the bride and groom’s hand lettered names paired with a typewriter font, the entire design emulates the vintage appeal of the of the wedding venue.

    From Elaine: Anthea & Reid will be married in December at the historic Goodwood Plantation in Tallahassee, Florida.  They were drawn to its vintage charm and wanted the paper elements to include the same rustic feel with a touch of handmade whimsy.  The beautiful estate is enough to make you swoon, so we created a custom illustration of the mansion, set with a typewriter font and decorated with the couple’s names in hand lettering for a whimsical touch.  The design was printed on 100% cotton paper for a luxurious handmade feel.

    Gorgeous – thanks Elaine!
