Quick Pick: Design Ahoy

Last year I featured this stunning typographic letterpress printed world map by Design Ahoy – the classic elegance of the simple black text and blind impression latitude and longitude lines just knocked me off my feet. This year, Design Ahoy has released two new equally impressive limited edition maps: an ethereal watercolor version and an inverted design featuring white text printed on black paper. And once again, I’m completely in love!

Seasonal Stationery: 2013 Calendars, Part 3

Usually by this time of year I already have my favorite calendar picked out, but this year it seems like a fantastic new calendar is released every week if not every day! I’m still updating the 2013 calendar round up page with all the new releases, and today I thought I’d share a few of the recent additions!  I’m particularly smitten with the cyanotype calendar from Campbell Raw Press below – each individual print (in an edition of 60 calendars) is one of a kind!

Hand Lettered Stationery from Lindsay Letters

I’ve been a big fan of calligrapher Lindsay Sherbondy – aka Lindsay Letters – ever since coming across an awesome gold foil baby announcement that she lettered and designed a while back. Lindsay just opened up a brand new shop full of letterpress stationery with her lovely calligraphy!  The new collection includes everything from personalized stationery to holiday party invitations and photo cards to art prints.

I can’t get over the collection of holiday photo cards – called Gilded Greetings – which include a custom message in Lindsay’s calligraphy over a personal photo. Gorgeous!

Laura + Thomas’s Modern Kraft and Chevron Stripe Wedding Invitations

Laura’s DIY kraft paper save the dates were easily one of my favorite features from 2011, so it’s no surprise that I’m equally in love with her wedding invitations! Laura continued the kraft paper and chevron stripe elements from her save the dates, adding in beautiful letterpress printed pieces and a custom map printed on butcher block paper. Just gorgeous!

From Laura: Designing my own wedding invitations was the most challenging part of planning our wedding. Our wedding style was vintage modern with neutral colors and textures. I wanted to use a variety of paper colors, weights and different printing techniques. The main invitation was letterpress printed by Sensura Studio.

My sister and I hand screen printed the chevron pattern on the inside of the kraft envelope to match our save the dates. Instead of buying new postage stamps, I used all vintage ones from my grandma’s collection.

The other pieces I printed myself on my trusty home printer. My favorite part is the map, which I printed on text weight butcher paper from French Paper Co.

I used the leftover paper for our ceremony programs (which were sewn together), placecards, menus, etc. We had little jars of natural honey for wedding favors and I used my vintage typewriter to make tags and labels.

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone! I managed to come down with a nasty cold this week, which is still lingering despite my best efforts to chase it away with lots of soup and tea. Ick. Hopefully it’ll be gone by next week, and thankfully my husband has a three day weekend – because trying to care for an 8 week-old baby while sick? No fun. But in the meantime…
