Misty’s Modern + Rustic Baby Shower Invitations

Designer Misty Manley is expecting a baby boy later this year and was kind enough to send over the invitations that she designed for her upcoming baby shower.  The two-color letterpress printed invitations feature a mustard yellow and teal blue color palette, blind emboss woodgrain pattern, and fun chevron stripe envelope liners.  I’m absolutely in love with the custom rubber stamp that Misty designed for the envelopes – such a fun detail!

From Misty: I designed these invitations for my upcoming baby shower.  I chose to do 2-color letterpress with a blind emboss of a wood grain pattern to match the theme of the shower, “How Tweet It Is” – which will combine birds’ nests, twigs, and rustic details with pops of a yellow chevron pattern.  The invitation is backed with teal paper.

I also designed the matching seal and created a custom rubber stamp through Simon’s Stamps (a great resource!).  Finally, I lined the kraft paper envelopes with chevron stripe envelope liners.

Jenny + Mark’s “Tie the Knot” Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  These “Tie the Knot” wedding invitations and save the dates from Dennis at Clutch Design are such an adorable theme for high school sweethearts Jenny and Mark.  The design features playful step by step instructions, starting with the save the dates, along with sweet illustrations and modern typography.

From Dennis: Mark and Jenny were high school sweethearts going back 12 years.  Their close friends and family would occasionally joke about when or if they would ever get married.  When they did decide to tie the knot, they chose to have the ceremony and reception immersed in the outdoor nature setting of Harmony Ridge Lodge, Nevada City.

They wanted the invitation to reflect their personality.  The idea was an easy to follow, step-by-step “Tie the Knot” theme inspired by the Boy Scouts.  A short hike down to the Scotts Flat Lake provided the dragonfly inspiration that Jenny was passionate about.  The wedding colors were orange and steel blue which we incorporated in the letterpress printed invitations and save the dates.

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  Time is still kind of relative with a one month-old newborn at home, but this weekend really snuck up on me!  This was my husband’s last week of paternity leave, so we’ve been trying to squeeze in some fun activities around DC before he goes back to work.  Luckily Sophie loves to be in the Ergo and pretty much sleeps through an entire outing.  I’ll admit to being kind of nervous about being on my own with Sophie during the day starting next week, but hopefully we’ll get the hang of things without too much trouble.  I’ll find out soon!  But in the meantime…

Modern Neon Baby Shower Invitations + Decorations

These modern baby shower invitations and decorations come to us all the way from Argentina, where Mariana from Yum Eventos planned a neon and stripe-filled shower for a fashionable mama-to-be.  Mariana combined the neon with chevron stripes and kraft paper elements for

From Mariana: I planned an intimate baby shower for a glowing and fashion forward mommy-to-be.  Inspired by the recent neon trend, I mixed fluorescent elements with bold brights, a modern chevron pattern, stripes, and washi tape details.

For the baby shower, we paired the neon elements with kraft paper so that the colors would pop even more.

The dessert table included sparkling water, mini glasses with striped straws, and matching drink flags. Desserts included Dulce de Leche Alfajores, a typical Argentinian tasty treat, and triangle shaped brownies to complement the chevron pattern on the invitations.  The DIY backdrop featured a neon yellow string heart and tassels in neon, brown, and bright turquoise against kraft paper.

Cristina’s DIY Under Construction House Warming Party Invitations

Ah, the joys of moving.  As much as I love decorating a new space, it always takes me several months before I feel comfortable enough in a new space to invite guests over.  Designer Cristina Pandol (you might remember her creative map moving announcements) decided to take advantage of this transitional period and her new apartment’s industrial feel when planning her house warming party.  She created invitations with an “under construction” theme using rubber stamps and leftover wallpaper from her decorating adventures.

From Cristina: After 3 months of being at my new place, I finally was getting my act together and having a house warming party.  Naturally, I needed an invitation.  Even though my place wasn’t completely put together, I figured “under construction” could be the theme for the party and my downtown Los Angeles loft would serve as the inspiration for the entire project.

Since I had painted, hung wallpaper, and sewn throw pillows all myself, I knew that the invitation had to be completely handmade.  I also wanted them to complement the very industrial and urban aesthetic of my apartment.

I drew the little tools and used Neutraface and AW Conqueror Slab for the type.  Once the design was finalized, I sent the stamp to be made and while I was waiting for that I set off to buy a ZAP! heat gun and Adirondack powder.  I stamped each invitation with clear watermark ink, then covered the wet ink with the powder, removed the extra powder by flipping the card over on a large piece of scrap paper, and then used the heat gun to melt the powder.

I decided on a light gray envelopes to match my cement floors and to use the extra wallpaper that I had hung as envelope liners so every envelope was different.  I picked a forever stamp of Gregory Peck since he’s such a Los Angeles icon and the coloring of the stamp worked with the aesthetic and color palette of the invitation.
