Maple Leaf Wedding Invitations

With Christmas just a week away there’s no denying that it’s officially winter, but I love these fall-inspired maple leaf wedding invitations that Adrienne from Dingbat Press created for a wedding in September.  The overprinting details – where the different leaf colors overlap and create an almost semi-transparent effect – are particularly beautiful:

So lovely!  You can see a bit more over on Adrienne’s blog right here.

Kate Spade Inspired Birthday Party Invitations

Don’t let the bright colors fool you – these invitations are actually for a grown-up’s birthday party.  Anastasia from Anastasia Marie recently celebrated her birthday, and when it came time to designer her birthday party invitations she was inspired by the bright colors and patterns from Kate Spade.  How fun!

From Anastasia: Printed on creamy linen paper with red, yellow, blue, and green as the color palette, these lovelies also boast colorful flower bloom pop-ups!  The Kate Spade theme was suggested to me by a friend and I jumped at the idea.  I thoroughly enjoyed making these invitations and they definitely brought a lot of color into the actual party when guests arrived decked out in bright sweaters, bows, and mustaches!

Vintage-Inspired Save the Dates

I’ve got lots of fun things planned for this week, but thought I would start off with some beautiful vintage-inspired save the dates from Jen at Starshaped Press.  Jen works only with antique letterpress type and ornaments, not custom magnesium plates or photopolymer plates, so each one of Jen’s invitations and save the dates has a true vintage vibe.  For Julie and Seth, Jen used art deco type for a 1920s and telegram-inspired save the date:

I’m always amazed by the beautiful antique fonts and details in Jen’s collection. For Lauren and Mark’s save the date, Jen incorporated a floral ornamental pattern along with antique type from the 1880s (!) and gold ink for a simple yet totally elegant save the date.

Awesome work Jen!  Thank you so much for sending these over!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  I don’t know about all of you, but I’m breathing a big sigh of relief in anticipation of the weekend.  No big plans, just looking forward to a bit of downtime.  Are you all up to anything exciting this weekend?  Our only big plan is to get and decorate our Christmas tree, which is pretty exciting for me since it’s the first time we’ve lived in an apartment big enough for a tree since I moved to DC almost ten years ago.  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

…and in case you missed it, a quick round-up of this week’s posts:

Also, just another quick reminder to check the sidebar for upcoming holiday sales and craft markets – like this pop-up holiday shop at Nightwood in Brooklyn over the next two weekends and of course the Martha holiday craft fair tomorrow.  I wish I could be there!  Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and I’ll see you back here on Monday!
