Jess + Sim’s Illustrated Nature-Inspired Wedding Invitations

UK-based designer Belinda Love Lee sent over these pretty wedding invitations that she designed for a recent client – all inspired by the wedding’s picturesque location by a pond and in a meadow! Belinda designed a fold-out map to enclose the main invitation with illustrations based on photos of the venue. Whimsical hand lettering serves as the perfect finishing touch!

From Belinda: Jess and Sim wanted their wedding invitations to be whimsical and to tell a story. I designed the invitation in the form of an hand-illustrated map, where it unfolds and your eye follows each illustration down leading to the main invitation card.

The best apart about it is that Jess and Sim literally got married by a pond, in the meadow, near a forest, just outside a barn! I used photos from their wedding location to help me illustrate. The invitation suite is completely hand made, from print to production.

Party Paper: A Typographic Party

I think I’m safe to say that a good percentage of us are typography nerds, no? We just love a good dose of the stuff. Well have you ever thought about throwing a typographic theme party!? I bet you’re thinking about it now! This theme is great for back to school parties (help them get those ABCs down!) and for anyone who is a font fanatic at heart. —Kelly

Frequent travel was a necessary part of my former job – in fact it’s the only thing I miss about my old gig. And lately all I do is think about all the places I want to go and see… at least when I’m not chasing around an energetic crawling baby. We’re hoping to do our first big international trip with Sophie later this year, but I have so many places on my list that we’ll have to start traveling more frequently if we want to get to all of them! Have any of you been bitten by the travel bug recently?

Jillian + Lee’s Travel-Inspired Airmail Wedding Invitations

After many years as a long distance couple, Jillian and Lee worked with designer Christine Loo of Heritage + Joy to create a travel-inspired wedding invitation suite with airmail details. Christine also incorporated Jillian and Lee’s color palette of cream, soft pink, and navy blue and elegant script fonts to complement their castle (!!) wedding venue. So lovely!

From Christine: Jillian and Lee were married this past May at the beautiful Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York. They decided to go with a travel theme to reflect the nature of their long distance relationship. She is originally from New York, he from the United Kingdom. Over the years, they had travelled many miles to see each other and spend time together, from London to New York to Paris. Lee even proposed on a special trip to St. Lucia!

Jillian and Lee chose a beautiful color palette for their castle wedding — soft pinks and creams for their flowers, and long navy dresses for the bridesmaids. We worked together to design a wedding invitation suite that was modern, soft, with just a hint of vintage flair to reflect handwritten letters.

I created different variations of passport stamps that we incorporated into the suite that reflected some of the different locations they had travelled to. The suite was printed on soft white paper and inserted into navy inner envelopes before going into outer envelopes, giving them just the right elegant touch.

Zach + Alexandra’s Elegant Screen Printed Wedding Invitations

You may remember Zach and Alexandra’s engagement party invitations from earlier this year – and today Rux from Lush Prints is back to share their wedding invitations! Rux worked with the talented folks at Mama’s Sauce to produce an elegant screen printed invitation suite with whimsical die cut details and bright pops of yellow. Beautiful!

From Rux: Shortly after we completed Zachary & Alexandra’s engagement dinner invitations, we found ourselves designing concepts for their wedding invitations. Our goal was to make their wedding invitation memorable and elegant. Listening to how these two souls crossed paths allowed us to unlock tiny details needed to start the creative process.

One of Zach and Alexandra’s courtship habits really stood out to us: they frequented Disneyland for many date nights. We strategically placed a hidden Mickey on damask pattern (can you find it?). A few weeks before the wedding, Zach & Alexandra posted a Facebook message with a contest asking their guests to find Mickey. The winner was announced at the reception and presented with a honeycomb jar filled with sweet golden honey.

Other little details included the couple’s bee monogram. We incorporated throughout the wedding stationery and also created a custom cake topper that completed the beautiful honeycomb theme cake.
