Red + Aqua Baby Shower Invitations for Baby Bennett

Today is going to be all about baby stationery, with a couple of fun baby stationery suites from Greg Bennett of Work to Date.  Greg and his wife welcomed a baby boy last fall, and Greg worked with the talented team at Gilah Press to letterpress print baby shower invitations and announcements.  First up, Greg is sharing the red and aqua invitations that he designed for his wife’s baby shower over the summer!

I love the unexpected combination of a sweet whale illustration with a greek key border – not to mention the beautiful knockout text for the invitation details!

Thanks Greg!  Check back a bit later for baby Bennett’s birth announcements!

Amanda + David’s Whimsical Accordion Fold Wedding Invitations

Amanda sent over the invitations from her wedding in Minnesota last summer – I absolutely adore the whimsical calligraphy and accordion fold layout!  Amanda worked with local stationers Watermark Stationery to create an invitation that was elegant yet non-traditional, ultimately settling on a sophisticated design with a playful pop-out for the main invitation.  The entire suite was letterpress printed in a single color and embellished with gorgeous calligraphy from Crystal Kluge.  So pretty!

From Amanda: The invitation sets the tone for a wedding, so we wanted to show our invited guests what type of event we had planned: formal, fun, glamorous and somewhat whimsical.  I worked with Gretchen Berry of Watermark Stationery in Excelsior, Minnesota to come up with a fun, unique way to present our wedding invitation.  We knew we didn’t want a traditional invitation; we wanted something unique, different and fun.

Once we came up with a design that we loved, we had some of the text elements custom done by local calligrapher, Crystal Kluge.  We loved the combination of the whimsical, yet formal letterpress calligraphy paired with our over-sized main invitation.  The invitation was paired with a mini envelope and fold-out accordion invitation, reply and direction cards, and a dark gray outer envelope with white ink calligraphy – all tied together with a white silk ribbon.  It was truly our dream wedding invitation.

Thanks Amanda!

Rachel + Josh’s Scrabble Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  We’re starting the week with fun and casual wedding invitations from Gus & Ruby Letterpress inspired by Scrabble tiles!  Samantha and Whitney created these playful invitations for a wedding this past summer, mixing bright colors with non-traditional wording and illustrations created by the bride – all letterpress printed on thick cotton paper.

From Samantha and Whitney: We designed these wedding invitations for a super rad couple getting married in Brewster, Massachusetts.  Rachel and Josh wanted their stationery to reflect their fun-loving, casual, family-oriented personalities and the tone of their event.  For the entire suite, we played off illustrations that the bride created of Scrabble tiles spelling out their names.

We then used bright colors, a mix of casual fonts and a ruled-paper background to give the pieces lots of personality and fun.  Personal and non-traditional wording played off the Scrabble theme and set the tone for a celebratory event.  Of course, all the pieces were lovingly letterpress printed by hand on our antique press (c. 1896) on beautiful, textural, super thick 220# 100% cotton.

Thanks Sam and Whit!

Kendra + Robb’s Rustic Woodgrain Wedding Invitations

These gorgeous and woodsy wedding invitations come to us from Sally at La Happy, designed for an outdoor wedding in Washington state this past summer.  Sally kept the actual invitation simple and relaxed, bringing in hand stamped website cards and beautiful vintage stamps (not to mention stunning calligraphy) to pull the entire invitation suite together.

From Sally: I created this invitation for an outdoor rustic wedding in Winthrop, Washington, which is in the backwoods of Washington State.  The inspiration was the groom’s love of all things outdoors: camping, hiking, etc.  The bride and groom wanted a rustic wedding with a non-fussy, vintage feel, so we tried to incorporate that into the paper design.

The colors of the wedding were really earthy.  Mustard yellow was a key color, then we brought in the stone gray as a neutral color to complement the yellow.  I created the “deer logo” for the wedding and then made a custom stamp out of it and stamped all of the paper pieces.  The invitation was printed on faux bios (a faux wood grain) paper, to relay the feel of the woods and the outdoors.

I created custom stamps to look like an industrial time stamp to use for the date and time of the wedding.  The bride and groom wanted to make sure the invitations did not feel fussy, so we made sure everything had a more industrial, vintage feel.  The RSVP card is a postcard with vintage stamps.  We worked with the lovely (and SO helpful) Virginia Sauder of Verde Studios to find the perfect vintage postage to fit the set.

Thanks Sally!

Inspired by: Aqua

I usually think of aqua as a summer color, but I’ve come to love this gorgeous hue any time of year.  In the winter, aqua pairs wonderfully with my favorite holiday color palette of gray, red, and white, and it also looks amazing with sparkly metallics.  In warmer weather it also looks amazing with bright yellows and oranges (Tangerine Tango, anyone?) and soft neutral beachy tones.  The possibilities are endless, so today I thought I’d do a little round up of awesome aqua paper goods and accessories!

I’ve also had a huge crush on this light aqua floral fabric from Rubie Green for months now.  I recently bought a couple of yards for a project that I’m working on and it’s even more beautiful in person!
