Alana’s Modern Teal + Gold Bachelorette Party Itineraries

Remember these beautiful understated calligraphy save the dates for Alana of Vellum & Vogue? With the wedding weekend fast approaching, it was time for Alana’s bachelorette weekend! The general details had already been decided in advance, but Alana wanted to inject some excitement by sending an itinerary of the weekend schedule. These teal and gold leaf itineraries couldn’t be more perfect!

From Krystal and Alana of Vellum & Vogue: As designers, one of the most fun parts of planning your own wedding is the paper goods. That includes all of the peripheral events like the bridal shower and of course, the bachelorette party. The details around Alana’s bachelorette weekend were arranged long in advance, so to get guests excited we decided to send out an itinerary outlining the upcoming weekend events.

We wanted the itineraries to have a bright pop of color and immediately fell in love with these teal envelopes, incorporating the same shade throughout the suite. We also wanted to add a touch of gold. Since this project was a shorter run, we opted for a DIY foil technique, easily accomplished with a glue stick and sheets of gold leaf applied to the border of each itinerary card.

The cards were completed by a folded itinerary, mounted in a glassine envelope on the back of each card. We layered the itinerary over a black and white geometric pattern and teal card stock, also accented in gold foil.

We also created complimentary thank you notecards and coasters which became part of a favor box for each guest.

Envelope Inspiration: Calligraphy and Vintage Stamps

If you’re reading this blog, then hopefully you’re like me and LOVE a pretty envelope. Dress an envelope up with some beautiful calligraphy (or a well designed mailing label) and some colorful postage stamps and I’m a very happy lady. So I was thrilled when calligrapher Korie Lynn of The Weekend Type sent over some beautiful envelope inspiration from her collaboration with florist Jody Strom of The Moss & Rose and event planner Natalie Dawley of To Be Wed! Let’s get straight to the envelope eye candy…

From Korie: Vintage stamps are the perfect way to continue the overall theme and color palette in an invitation suite. Using multigenerational postage allows you to create a storyline and always makes the envelope more interesting. Each vignette tells a color story: the backdrop, the floral combinations, the envelope, ink choices, calligraphy style, and the stamps. From Americana to English countryside to Garden glamour, Jody accented each envelope with flowers and foliage grown and selected from her personal garden.

Jill + Brian’s Modern Pink Letterpress Wedding Invitations

When it came time to design her own wedding invitations last year, Jill from Ruff House Art was definitely feeling the pressure – she wanted to create something that lived up to her own high expectations and a special experience for her wedding guests! Jill created a modern wedding invitation full of pattern and sweet floral details – all letterpress printed on soft thick paper. So pretty!

From Jill: We work with hundreds of brides each year to design their perfect wedding invitations, however, these invitations are extra special, as they are our own wedding invitations. We tied the knot in September 2013 with a small, quaint ceremony.

As a wedding stationer, there was so much pressure in designing my own invitations! I knew that our guests would expect nothing short of an awesome invitation and I didn’t want to disappoint. Pressure aside, it was such a fun process! I wanted it to be an experience to open our invitations – and I wanted our guests to get excited for our big day!

The invitations are letterpress printed on double thick handmade paper. In our retail and wedding lines, I work with paper maker Porridge Papers a lot to make paper for our products, mostly seeded paper. So I knew I wanted to use his paper as it is lush, soft, and prints beautifully! We chose a double thick stock since each piece of the wedding suite is double sided. I wanted to get a nice, deep impression on each piece without show through on the opposite side. The end result is beautiful: soft, thick paper, and deep printing impressions!

Embroidery and Millinery Wedding Invitation Inspiration

As promised, I’m back with more from the talented Kristy Rice of Momental Designs from her shoot at the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina! Kristy was inspired by cross-stitch embroidery and vintage millinery details to create two very different – but incredibly beautiful – wedding invitation designs that suit the antique beauty of the estate. Kristy incorporated an incredible level of detail into her designs, from watercolor cross-stitch inspired artwork to floral appliqués. Gorgeous!

From Kristy: This embroidery-inspired invitation reinterprets the look of cross stitch in watercolor and pattern.

Punchy blooms are made up of tiny watercolor “x” shapes in shades of coral, poppy, blue, and greens. The invitation is stretched into a copper painted embroidery hoop – all presented in a round box filled with fresh moss and tied up with white silk Dupioni ribbon.

With acres of forest woven throughout the property to include restaurants, shops and a winery, a hand-drawn map was a necessity for the navigation of guests. Although George Vanderbilt constructed a stately home with miles of landscaping ingenuity, his desire to live in the simplicity of the North Carolina mountains inspired me to instill this nature-inspired approach in my artwork.

Next up – an invitation suite inspired by vintage millinery details!

Millnery-Wedding-Invitations-Momental-Designs-OSBP-7

This invitation suite was inspired by vintage millinery and paper blooms in a beautiful bridal bouquet. Delicate rice paper magnolia blooms feature button centers and vintage millinery stamens. Sweet beaded strawberries peek out from behind the bloom. The invitation was hand painted in shades of fresh greens, gold, and white to mimic the textures of iconic oil paintings.

Hand Painted Wedding Invitation Inspiration

Happy Monday everyone! You’re in for such a treat: the amazingly talented Kristy Rice of Momental Designs sent over three beautiful hand painted wedding invitations that she created for a shoot at the stunning Biltmore Estate in North Carolina – and we’re going to see all three! We’ll start off with the first invitation suite and some of the beautiful inspiration from the shoot, followed by the two other invitation suites a bit later. Let’s get right to it!

Biltmore-Estate-Inspired-Watercolor-Wedding-Invitations-Momental-Designs-OSBP-17

From Kristy: The antiquity of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina lends itself to creating wedding stationery that you might find in the actual details of the Vanderbilt home within the embossed wallpaper, ornate woodwork, treasured artworks, or the rich draperies adorning each window. I decided right away to feature a family crest-style monogram, just as the Vanderbilt family would have had on their own letterhead. But we updated the look with watercolor and hand gilded touches.

Biltmore-Estate-Inspired-Watercolor-Wedding-Invitations-Momental-Designs-OSBP-11

We evolved a traditional monogram concept to reveal a modern aesthetic. Hand gilded initials mingle with watercolor moments. The invitation features hand painted Dupioni silk photo corners in sage green with subtle ombre fading along the edge. The invitation also features the same hand painted silk in a wrap with a watercolor silhouette of the Biltmore Estate. The menu features a tonal layering of stock in bright pink hues.
