Jillian + Tim’s Eclectic Vintage Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  The first day back from a long holiday weekend can be a bit rough, but I’m hoping to help you ease back into the week with a couple of gorgeous wedding invitation suites.  First up today, these lovely vintage-inspired invitations from Allie Ruth Design.  While the main invitation is a classic and reserved black and white design, Allie incorporated color and fun materials with the envelopes, liners, and belly band, all complete with beautiful vintage postage stamps.

From Allie:  I love that the colors in this invitation suite look like they could have been pulled straight out of the ’40s.  The mustard yellow envelopes were the starting point for the entire design, around which we built a color palette of turquoise, kraft, cream, and light green.

My absolute favorite part is the envelope liners.  They are made from authentic 1930s wallpaper, that was printed using a technique called “surface painting” that gives the paper a hand-painted look.  I am absolutely in love with this paper and will certainly look forward to using vintage wallpaper in more of my custom designs.  The belly bands are kraft with vintage lace sewn on.

So pretty!  Thanks Allie!

Lesley + Chad’s Accordion Save the Dates

Last month we featured the country elegance wedding invitations of Lauren from Inclosed Studio.  Today we’re showcasing the save the dates of Lesley – Lauren’s other half at Inclosed Studio!  Lesley and her now-husband Chad decided to use an accordion fold-out format so they could incorporate accommodation and travel information into their save the dates, along with a fun sticker that guests could place on their calendars to remember the wedding date.

From Lauren and Lesley: The front and back of the accordion save the date was printed by hand using our vintage letterpress on handmade peach-scented paper.  The inside piece is digitally offset on a pale pink Crane cover stock.  The last page features a hand-made pocket that holds two custom “Save the Date” stickers so guests can mark their calenders with the date!  Pennant flags were a theme of the wedding, so we included them throughout the design including the hand-cut envelope liners!

So cute!  Thanks Lauren and Lesley!

Susie + Bradford’s Modern Chevron Stripe Wedding Invitations

The design world has been crazy for chevron stripes for a while now – and it’s easy to see why!  The zig zag pattern is clean, modern, and a lot of fun.  I love the way Richele from Richie Designs incorporated chevron stripes into these wedding invitations.  Richele used chevron stripes in the envelope liners and mailing labels, which pairs perfectly with the crisp green and white color palette and sans-serif type!

Modern Calligraphy Travel-Inspired Wedding Invitations

I’m always so impressed with the work of calligrapher Betsy Dunlap; there’s just something about her modern calligraphy script that is just completely and utterly romantic, don’t you think?  My jaw practically hit the floor when I saw these travel-inspired invitations that she created for the sister of a close friend.  Betsy calligraphed the invitation and addressed both the outer envelope and inner rsvp return envelope.  And with different envelope liners, vintage stamps, colors for the wax seal, and baker’s twine, each invitation is totally unique!

Gabby’s Whimsical Pink + Orange 4th Birthday Party Invitations

Carmela from Fiore Press created these adorable pink and orange letterpress invitations for her daughter’s 4th birthday party a couple of months ago.  Carmela incorporated bright colors, floral design elements, and a cute bunting illustration in the main invitation, along with matching thank you cards and floral envelope liners.  So fun!

From Carmela: I’ve always loved flag banners and I really wanted to print something with bright colors for Gabby’s birthday.  I always hand mix the ink, and I just love the poppy and fuchsia in these invitations –they remind me of rainbow sherbet and summer.  Printing two colors with such tight registration can be tricky, but I love how these came out!

I also printed corresponding thank you notes, and the envelopes are probably my favorite part of the entire invitation.  I love printing on the corner of the envelope and having it spill over onto the flap – who wouldn’t love to get these in the mail?  I used both poppy and fuchsia colored envelopes (mainly because I couldn’t decide between the two!) and used brown ink to print the envelopes, and lined the envelopes with wrapping paper from Snow & Graham.  I loved being able to do these for my daughter.

Carmela even used the same Snow & Graham wrapping paper to frame the invitations after the party!
