Jess + Charlie’s Retro Neon Wedding Invitations

The ladies of Gus & Ruby Letterpress always send me most awesome wedding invitations, but these invitations are seriously cool! Created for a creative California couple, the entire suite has a fun retro vibe combined with modern pops of neon color. The save the dates feature neon borders in three different colors against blind impression text, while the invitation suite and outer envelopes include pops of bright neon pink. Love!

From Samantha and Whitney: This custom suite was designed for a hip, fun-loving couple getting married at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum in Santa Barbara, CA. The couple wanted their stationery to reflect the laid-back California vibe of their wedding while still being fun and hip and inviting for their guests who were traveling from all over the country.

Jess and Charlie’s modern, interactive save the date featured a blind-printed message with a pop of neon and set the stage for a fun party ahead. The subtle, cheeky blind printed message ended with a URL in a pop of neon that invited guests to view a video online detailing their engagement and upcoming nuptials.

The invitations and reply cards featured a mix of bold sans serif and serif fonts as well as a retro-inspired script. The pairing of fonts provided a good mix of contemporary and vintage typestyles while the use of white space and small pop of neon helped round out a clean, fresh look.

Each invitation was printed on double-thick 220# cotton and then edge painted in neon pink for extra punch of color. All the pieces were lovingly letterpress printed by hand on our antique press (c. 1913) on beautiful, textural, super thick 100% cotton paper.

A fun custom envelope liner featuring a monogram jazzed up the envelope for each invitation. Our dear friend, Jenna, of Love, Jenna Calligraphy add some extra neon pop with her incredible hand-calligraphy on the envelopes.

Hillary + Chris’s Illustrated Nautical Wedding Invitations

Nautical motifs are some of the most versatile design elements – they can be dressed up in classic navy and white or become more playful in a whimsical illustrated design. I couldn’t resist sharing these nautical wedding invitations and save the dates spotted over on the Quill & Fox. The illustrations and nautical flags are just too much fun!

From Yas: The couple share a love for traveling and having fun — which is a perfect thing to embody for this set. We wanted to make a strong early statement for the save the date, using iconic nautical imagery and an illustrated whale that’s slightly reminiscent of the old style book illustrations.

The invitation set includes a large map of Martha’s Vineyard, along with specific information about the wedding venue and other important guest instructions. The contents were laid out to mimic a playful interpretation of a captain’s map.

Sarah + Joe’s DIY Rustic Screen Printed Wedding Invitations

It’s always a treat to hear from couples who found inspiration for their wedding invitations right here on OSBP, so I was thrilled when Sarah sent over her lovely rustic invitations! Sarah wanted to match the informal vibe of her farm wedding venue and chose to screen print her invitations in white and light green ink on kraft paper. I love the arrow pattern incorporated throughout the suite – such a fun detail!

From Sarah: Our wedding is going to be at a farm so I wanted the invitations to reflect the earthy and informal vibe of our venue. Everything was screen printed with the exception of the mailing addresses on the outer envelopes.

Heather’s Hand Lettered Bridal Shower Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! I thought we’d start the week with these beautiful invitations from designer Christine Wisnieski for her sister’s bridal shower. Christine paired gray and white invitations with a gorgeous marbled paper envelope liner. Christine hand painted the text at the top of the invitation, which was digitally printed (in white ink!) on dark gray paper. So pretty!

From Christine: Earlier this month, my mother and I had the pleasure of hosting a wedding shower toasting the soon-to-be bride – my sister Heather – and groom. The afternoon took place at a cozy little wine bar and was filled with love, Moscato, and laughter.

The invitation featured hand-painted type, a marbled envelope liner, and a custom candle favor package for guests. The invitation was printed digitally on a smoke gray paper stock (some typography required nearly six passes of toner!).

{happy weekend!}

Happy First Day of Summer everyone! I tried to make the most of the last official week of spring: I took a pointed pen calligraphy class taught by Michele of Meant To Be Calligraphy (that’s my handiwork below) and took Sophie for her first real outing in a playground – including her first experience in a swing! We don’t have any particular plans for the weekend, but I’m hoping to make some progress in setting up my office and unpacking our remaining boxes. I can’t wait to be organized again! But in the meantime…
