Field Feast Invitations

For the past three years, Stitch Design Co has designed the invitations for a benefit dinner called Field Feast.  In 2009 they made letterpress seed packets, in 2010 they printed on reusable cloth produce bags and this year (which might be my favorite) they attached the paper invitation to burlap bags with fabric buttons.  I’m sure the event is lovely but I would just go to receive the invitation.

Marriage Equality Artwork from Fine Day Press

Ashley at Fine Day Press created these beautiful prints to commemorate the legalization of same sex marriage in her home state of New York.   Both editions are 8×10″ prints of an original watercolor illustration, printed on luxuriously thick, textured, bright white paper with archival inks.  Ashley plans to donate 10% of proceeds to the Human Rights Campaign in the hopes that gay marriage will soon become legal through the entire country.

{happy weekend!}

As I mentioned earlier, we’re in the middle of an incredible heatwave here in DC (and apparently half of the country).  When my husband calls home each night from overseas, we definitely spend a good amount of time complaining about the heat in our respective locations – which makes most of our conversations pretty boring, actually.  He comes home soon; we’re in the final stretch and just counting down the last few days.  It feels so good to know that this will all be behind us very soon.  Next week is shaping up to be a flurry of activity as I try to wrap up a few loose ends, thankfully most of it indoors.  But in the meantime…

Red, White + Blue Wedding Stationery Inspiration

I know we’re all ready to get the long holiday weekend started, but I’ve got a bit of red, white, and blue inspiration for you before I sign off for the weekend.  Megan from Pink Piggy Design collaborated with photographer Kate Osborne and other Utah-based wedding vendors on a fun photo shoot full of 4th of July-themed wedding ideas.  In keeping with the summer holiday, there are lots of stripes, twine, and some of the most delicious-looking mini pies I’ve ever seen!

From Megan:  We live in a blessed and privileged country, full of tradition and timeless symbols.  The inspiration behind these designs comes from our American roots, starting with the red, white, and blue color scheme!  This may not, at first thought, be the most ideal choice for summer wedding colors, but in the end is quite stunning.  The color combination provides amazing contrast that packs an eye candy punch that is a lot of fun to work with!  We drew from the most American symbol of all – our flag – and used striped patterns and different type faces for a little bit of fun modern play.

Sweet + Simple Save the Dates

Here’s another sweet kraft paper save the date.  Vicky and her fiancé live in Brisbane, Australia but are planning a wedding in the English countryside, so they felt the need to send their save the dates well in advance of their fall 2012 wedding.  Vicky is a graphic designer and printed the save the dates herself on her trusty Gocco.

From Vicky:  Being a graphic designer I have always had a passion for paper and typography so now I get to bring them together and start designing my own wedding stationery.  As a British citizen currently living in Brisbane, we realised the need to send our save the dates as soon as possible to give people enough time to save up and arrange a trip to the other side of the globe.  We will be married at home in the English countryside and we want everything to be simple and personal.

When it come to the design I wanted kraft paper and envelopes.  I hand printed every single ‘save the date’ on my Print Gocco.  I had so much fun and now I can not wait to get started on designing the invitations… no rush really as the wedding isn’t for another 15 months!
