Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Fall Color Palette

Fall weddings are my favorite. From earthy textures and moody fall hues, there are so many natural elements to draw inspiration from. And when it comes to color combinations, the options are endless: jewel tones, rusty neutrals and metallics, deep berry tones and shades of red, dark greens, deep indigo blue, and so much more. I hope you get some ideas from these fall color palettes! –Annie

Tropical Leaf Destination Wedding Invitations

You guys, I really hope the tropical leaf trend sticks around for a while. I just can’t get enough! Palm fronds, banana leaves, monsteras and philodendrons… I love them as house plants, floral décor, AND as inspiration for wedding invitations! Becca from Suite Paperie sent over these tropical leaf destination wedding invitations for a NYC couple getting married in the West Indies. Palm fronds galore!

From Becca: Michelle and Steven came to us to create an island-inspired invitation that would not only stand the test of time, but would also set the tone for their West Indies destination wedding. The pair are super creative individuals, with the bride working in the fashion industry, and the groom at an architecture firm, both in NYC. They ooze cool, creativity, and fun, so we were put to the test to create the ultimate suite that showed off their personalities, styles, and wedding vibe.

We came up with this tropical leaf wedding invitation! This beauty is digitally printed in full color on a creamy double-thick cover stock. The invitation is modern, featuring a playful brush script paired with a mix of serif and italic typefaces, and corner leaf artwork. We added depth to the design by layering palm fronds to create a cool seamless pattern.

The punchy pattern was enlarged and printed again to be used as the envelope liner inside a teal green envelope. Mini manilla shipping tags were  digitally printed with their initials and wedding date on the front, and their RSVP and website info on the reverse. The tags were finished with a burlap strand, giving the suite a bit of an earthy, rustic feel.

Michelle and Steven wanted their invitation to exude a fun, island vibe – getting their guests psyched up for an all out party weekend in Tobago, West Indies. We think the invitation did just that!

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! We started sleep training Alice this week out of sheer desperate need to regain a good night’s sleep. Please send happy thoughts that it clicks soon! Luckily I have a husband that knows how to mix a stiff drink – I have a feeling we’ll need a couple this weekend. But in the meantime…

Olga + Matt’s Burlap Destination Wedding Invitations

Sigh. Let’s all just run off to Santorini, okay? These beautiful burlap and wax seal destination wedding invitations from Jeannine of Blue Magpie have me completely sold!

From Jeannine: Olga came to me because she found and loved our burlap and silk invitations. With their handmade burlap pockets, silk ribbons, and raffia accents, she was really drawn to the slightly beachy but elegant feel, but Olga really wanted to tailor this invite to provide the perfect intro to their Greek destination wedding.

After discussing different ways to do this, we decided to create a custom olive branch wax seal as the focal point of her invitations. To further bring in a Greek flair, we tied on the wax seal with a beautiful light blue raffia.

The olive branch graphic reappears on the back, peeking out of the burlap pockets at the top of their response cards. The burlap pockets also hold a detailed itinerary of all the wonderful festivities the couple has planned for their fun-filled wedding weekend.

Jaclyn + Brent’s Tropical Destination Wedding Invitations

Aaaahhh… the ladies of Papellerie sent over this beautiful tropical destination wedding invitation and now I can practically smell the fresh ocean air! The invitation suite combines lots of texture – whitewashed wood veneer, letterpress printed text, and both matte and metallic foil – and stunning calligraphy from Brown Linen Design. Gorgeous!

From Papellerie: Jaclyn and Brent chose Belize for their destination wedding and we knew right away we wanted to do something tropical, fun, and that would portray the relaxed feeling of a tropical beach wedding. We started by designing their monogram: a custom J and B with a fishing fly illustration to represent their love of fly fishing.

Their save the date was digitally printed photographs (taken by the couple!) with white foil on the cover and information on the accommodations in Belize. We assembled each save the date with a gold rivet and burlap tie and slipped them into customized muslin bags.

All of the calligraphy on the set was created by Abany Bauer of Brown Linen Design and fit so perfectly with our vision for this tropical invitation. The invitation itself was printed on hand painted white washed wood paper with gold foil and brown letterpress, the insert cards were all letterpress printed or foil stamped – the orange welcome card features a fun matte foil!

Their invitation suite was packaged together with brown baker’s twine and custom made fishing flies. Each set had a different and unique fly! The invitations were mailed in a box mailer with calligraphy from Abany Bauer of Brown Linen Design.
