Brynne + Guy’s Natural Vineyard Save the Dates

I always like to end the week on a happy note, and what could be happier than these beautiful save the dates for a vineyard wedding? Created by Brynne from Harken Press for her own upcoming wedding, the save the dates feature a map of the wedding location and a custom gold wax seal. So pretty!

From Brynne: It can be daunting to be a stationery designer working on your own wedding stationery, but it can be even more of a challenge when both the bride and groom are designers. Guy and I wanted our save the dates to be unique and textural for our nature-inspired vineyard wedding. We also wanted to add fun accents, like our custom wax seal, photo magnet, photo corners and vintage map envelope liners to highlight the location.

The venue in southern California was the main inspiration. The vineyard is in Temecula Valley wine country which is a rural paradise with beautiful rolling hills and acres of lush vines. Hot air ballooning is a popular attraction in the area, so we used the symbol discreetly under the photo magnet. I can’t wait to take a romantic hot air balloon ride before the wedding!

Quick Pick: Moglea

The beautiful stationery from Meg of Moglea was one of my favorites from last year’s National Stationery Show – from her letterpress letter sets to calendars to greeting cards. I can’t wait to see what Meg does for this year’s show! I love the combination of hand lettering, illustration, and vibrant ink colors. Meg also creates some incredibly beautiful patterns – just look at those envelope liners!

Blakely + Matthew’s Glamorous Art Deco Wedding Invitations

These black, white, and gold foil wedding invitations from Carina Skrobecki Design and Lizzy Showman practically scream glamour! Carina drew inspiration from the wedding venue (and black tie formal style) to create this stunning Art Deco-inspired invitation suite. I love that Carina mixed flat printing (for the black and white elements) and gold foil – and the gold thread is the perfect finishing touch!

From Carina: Blakely and Matthew were an absolute joy to work with and together we created some of my favorite pieces to date. The two of them are getting married next month at the Arctic Club in Seattle, a landmark hotel from the early 1900s that was an exclusive club for men who struck it rich in the Alaskan gold rush (circa 1917). The building is beautifully ornate and the wedding itself will be a glamorous and formal affair, so we worked hard to have the invitations be the grand preview.

Each piece was printed offset in 100% black onto Ecru Crane Letra and then kissed with gold foil. We used patterns and borders to cue an Art Deco style, but also kept it fresh with clean, yet slightly era-inspired typefaces. Each suite included a main invitation with gold shimmer lined black envelopes — complete with gold calligraphy — a reply card and gold-stamped reply envelopes, and an accommodations card all wrapped together with a delicate gold thread.

Stephanie’s Black + White “April Showers” Bridal Shower Invitations

How fun are these black and white invitations for a modern bridal shower? Andrea from Featherpress Design was inspired by the old “April showers” adage to use a vintage umbrella as the main focus in the design. Graphic envelope liners and polka dot mailing labels – both also in black and white – helped complete the look!

From Andrea: April showers bring May flowers. In this case, an April bridal shower makes for a fun black and white design that of course includes an umbrella! Regular umbrella art just wouldn’t do. I re-drew a photograph of a vintage black & white umbrella so only the most simple of shapes would show. Stephanie’s name was also redrawn from a script typeface.

These invitations definitely set the tone for Stephanie’s bridal shower. We wanted a playful yet modern look and the actual shower will be adorned in black and white decorations.

We added drama and sophistication with black and white chevron envelope liners. We also kept the costs down by digitally printing the invitations, address labels, and envelope liners all in black and white. The envelopes are from Paper Source and labels are Avery from OfficeMax.

Jennifer + Charles’s Floral and Woodgrain Wedding Invitations

I’m finally starting to see some color around DC in the form of bright yellow daffodils and tiny pink blossoms, and this time of year I just want to hug anything floral in the hope that spring will arrive even sooner. Jessica from Moira Design Studio sent over these pretty floral and woodgrain invitations that she designed for a recent wedding. Each motif was hand painted, and the envelopes also feature lovely Moira Ink calligraphy. Pretty!

From Jessica: We have been obsessed with exploring other mediums in our design work (aside from our computer) and decided to get back to our roots and hunkered down with some paint and a jar full of brushes. Our timing was rather spot on, as this lovely bride approached us for a rustic and organic invitation with artistic roots – something unique and soulful.

She was really looking for a piece to give an impression of the relaxed, homey and intimate feel of their wedding. The couple is to be wed under a massive, gorgeous old oak tree beside a nearly equally as old stone house. The entire reception area is surrounded by lovely old trees, crickets singing, and a fire pit to keep the guests toasty. A venue completely befitting to them!

All the graphics for her invitation are custom painted, differing piece to piece and included clusters of blush flowers, trailing leaves, and rustic wood grain. The backs are also printed either with flowers or the wood grain pattern and envelope liners to match.

Each piece was printed on super thick cotton stock. All the envelopes were also printed with a matching motif, and we added a personal touch and addressed each envelope in calligraphy to boot… truly a suite to set the tone for their nuptials!
