Summer Flowers by Sidra Forman

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled onto the floral design work of DC-based florist Sidra Forman, and her work is so incredibly beautiful… it made me wish that I’d known about Sidra when I got married last year!

As if her flowers weren’t gorgeous enough on their own, Sidra only uses flowers that come from sustainable sources and take into account environmental and labor conditions.  She also has her own cutting garden (which is pretty incredible for someone who lives in DC!) and during the spring and summer months she is able to get nearly all of the flowers she uses from her garden and other local sources.  Amazing!

For more of Sidra’s gorgeous flowers, check out her website here and her blog – which is equal parts food and flowers and full of delicious recipes – right here.

Summer Cottages

Hi everyone.  Sorry about the light posting today.  I’m having kind of a blah day and so am going to head out a bit early to gear up for tomorrow.  So until tomorrow, I’m leaving you with a few photos that have been making their way into my daydreams recently…

Like Erin said, I want to go to there…

See you all back here tomorrow!

{moving announcements – duet letterpress}

It seems like summer is always moving season here in DC.  Whether it's recently-graduated college students moving out and on to new jobs and new cities, Capitol Hill staffers moving into or out of the city, or diplomats moving overseas for new assignments or back to DC after a few years' absence, there's always a moving truck making its way up or down our narrow residential streets.  So, in the spirit of moving season, I was absolutely thrilled to find these lovely moving announcement cards from duet letterpress:

Duet letterpress will take a photo of your new house and turn it into a custom drawing, which will then be included with your custom announcements:

Such a wonderful idea!  And believe it or not, these custom letterpress announcements won't break the bank – just check out the duet letterpress etsy shop for more info.

Vineyard Wedding Invitations

I love the interpretation of  a vineyard wedding in these invitations from Sarah of Parrott Design Studio:

Even if you’re getting married in a wine vineyard, who says the images have to be of grapes?  Blackberries, rasperries, and really any kind of berry or vine would give that lovely rustic but elegant feel that is so lovely in a vineyard, and so perfect for a summertime wedding!  Check out more photos and background on the design here.

Pretty Yellow Place Cards

I’m such a sucker for place cards and escort cards – I just love them!  And I just about squealed when I saw these fun and sunny yellow escort cards, from this gorgeous wedding over at the Bride’s Cafe yesterday:

The combination of yellow + use of an old door as a display is just perfect for a summer wedding.  And I’m totally digging these flowers as well:

Love it.  Lots more right here.
