I’ve never been huge on Halloween décor. Growing up, we lived too far out to get trick-or-treaters, and then I spent eight years in DC-area apartment and condo buildings. Last year, though, I experienced my first East Nashville Halloween, and let me tell you, folks here go ALL OUT. So, this year, I’m feeling more in the Halloween spirit, and today I’m sharing one of the more subtle ways that I’m bringing that spirit (no pun intended) to my tabletop. I use a few 99-cent unfinished wooden coffins that I spotted at the craft store to create dinner party food markers (or just as easily place cards), but I can only imagine all the other cute and creepy things that you could do with these! – Mandy Pellegrin of Fabric Paper Glue

Materials
unfinished wooden coffins
black paint
paint brush
mini black ravens (found among the seasonal floral items at the craft store)
red card stock
scissors
pen
hot glue gun
hot glue

Step One: Paint the coffins black.

Step Two: Cut out little banner shapes from the red card stock.

Step Three: Label the banners appropriately.

Step Four: Affix each banner to the tip of a raven’s beak with a bead of hot glue.

Step Five: Affix each raven to the top of a coffin using a bead of hot glue. (My ravens had little wires on the bottom for incorporating into a floral arrangement, so I just clipped those off with a pair of scissors.)
