Holiday Happy Hour: Apple Cider Sangria

Like many of you, we’re ducking out a bit early this week to celebrate Thanksgiving. But we couldn’t leave you without a cocktail recipe for the week! So today we’re sharing a great wintry Sangria to help celebrate the holiday: a spicy and sweet Apple Cider Sangria. – Andrew

Apple Cider Sangria

One Bottle Dry Red Wine
3 Cups Apple Cider
6 oz Apple Brandy
2 oz Lemon Juice
2 oz Orange Liqueur
2 oz Ginger Liqueur
Fresh Seasonal Fruit (we used pears, apples, and pomegranate seeds)
Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves, Cardamon, and Allspice (or 1 oz Allspice Dram, if on hand) to Taste

Combine everything, spices and all, in a pitcher. Give it a stir and, ideally, let the Sangria sit overnight. Add more fresh fruit just before serving.

Alternatively, you could simmer everything until the Sangria is heated through and the spices are infused.  Just strain out the cooked spices (or keep them as a garnish) and pour into mugs. Enjoy!

It’s Thanksgiving. You could serve your friends and family a sweet and fruity Sangria, or a spicy mulled wine, or a rich mulled cider. Or, you could serve them all of those things all at once, this fantastic Apple Cider Sangria. Yes! Let’s do that.

  1. this sounds delicious…
it’s very similar to the sangria we make in Portugal. Instead of apple cider we use soda or similar, like 7up, and we add a bit of brwn sugar.
    i must try your recipe!

  2. Wow, thank you so much for this recipe! This is sure to look good on the personalized glass mugs that I recently got for my family’s holiday party. Will definitely tell my crowd to checkout this page for the recipe. 🙂
