Dusty Blue and Pink Wedding Invitations on Handmade Paper

It’s September, which means the days of cool weather and fall foliage are just around the corner. I’m loving these dusty blue and pink wedding invitations on handmade paper by Lauren Clements of LineAve Calligraphy for a fall wedding – or a wedding any time of year, really. Lauren’s beautiful calligraphy and illustrations are absolutely beautiful against that gorgeous handmade paper by Farmette Press. And those Louisiana themed vintage postage stamps are the perfect finishing touch!

From Lauren: I loved designing my own wedding stationery! The invitation suite is letterpress printed on handmade paper in blue, pink, and cream tones. The design also incorporated a minimal line drawing of the church with some greenery accents. I used vintage stamps in a Louisiana theme to tell a story.

Our wedding ceremony took place at St. John Berchman’s Cathedral in Shreveport, Louisiana with aisles lined with fresh pomegranates and olive branches. The detail-packed outdoor reception was set on the lot of our future home.

The idea was a small, rustic, European-styled seated and plated dinner under the oak tree with 90 guests. The forecast called for a 90% chance of rain, and it wasn’t wrong. The tent that was supposed to cover a small seating area was enlarged to cover the entire event, and not an ounce of detail was lost. It was truly an inspirational ending to the dreaded “what do I do if it rains on my outdoor wedding?” question that I googled for 2 weeks straight. Guests kicked off their shoes and had the best celebration in mud up to their ankles. The photos turned out absolutely beautiful despite the FLOOD. Quality vendors are so important from hair that frizzes gracefully, to makeup that stays put, hot food that is served in a downpour, and of course, THE TENT that single-handedly saved the day.

As a stationer and calligrapher, I obsesses over detail. I designed and created my own save-the-dates, invitation suite, seating chart, and endless “day of” details like programs, menus, favor tags, flower cones, corn hole boards and bean bags, custom ice cream signs that incorporated our dogs, and cocktail napkins. The gate to the property and the Catholic church we were married in were both incorporated into the wedding stationery, adding a personal and special touch to the invitation suite and day-of stationery.

Understated Blush and Teal Wedding Invitations

The serif typography in these understated blush and teal wedding invitations is such a wonderful reminder that a well-curated serif typeface can make a stunning and modern statement. Designer Jaclyn Lee Bergmann, of her namesake Designed by Jaclyn, designed these beautiful invitations for her own special wedding celebration, with a gorgeous blush and teal color palette that is totally having a moment right now, rose gold and matte white foil, and dreamy vellum envelopes!

From Jaclyn: As a visual designer, it was important to me that our wedding stationery reflect our personalities, relationship, and the laid-back elegance of our wedding day that we hoped to convey. Plus, it was such a personal (and indulgent!) experience to design for our very own wedding and our invitation suite now serves as the perfect reminder of that magical day.

While we were inspired by our redwood grove venue with its organic feel, we opted for something a bit more modern that both blended with and balanced out the rustic space. To do so, we paired clean lines, modern typefaces, and a hint of floral detail with a modern color palette of blush tones, rose gold, and rich dark teal to create our take on a fresh, modern elegant wedding invitation suite.

A clean design for our main invitation let the gorgeous blush paper and rose gold foil shine, while the addition of our floral wedding logo added a lighthearted touch. Along with the main invitation we included a details card that featured a nature-inspired image from our engagement shoot and a screen-printed RSVP card in a rich dark teal hue. Together, the three pieces resulted in a playful range of texture and color.

To complete the suite, a printed vellum enclosure featuring our wedding logo held the three pieces together and added an elegant texture to the invitation. The printed vellum was folded to create a layered geometric look and allowed the recipient to see the layered stationery pieces upon receiving the invite. Lastly, each vellum enclosure was then sealed with a simple, yet bold rose gold sticker and slipped into an envelope.

We carried the layered approach of our invitation suite to our day-of wedding stationery as well, including our wedding programs and guest place cards. Our wedding programs featured three pieces of varying sizes and color paired with a simple rose gold paperclip, which when layered together created a clean, geometric look. While for the place cards, we layered blush and dark teal shapes to create a unique name tag for each guest.

Our wedding stationery perfectly emoted the laid-back, modern elegant spirit we had envisioned for our wedding day and we love how it came together!

Wood Veneer and Watercolor Floral Wedding Invitations

Wood veneer invitations are a fantastic choice for rustic weddings, but they can also be soft and bohemian when paired with soft watercolor floral elements! Sandy of Roseville Designs created these rustic-yet-bohemian wood veneer and watercolor floral wedding invitations, inspired by the eco-friendly Connecticut vineyard where the wedding took place. The clean and simple design allows the wood veneer to take central stage in such an elegant way!

From Sandy: I am so excited to share Kim and Greg’s rustic and bohemian wood wedding invitation suite! They wanted their wedding invitations to reflect the rustic look of their Connecticut vineyard wedding, while still maintaining some soft floral elements. I immediately fell in love with their vision for the big day! Priam Vineyards, their wedding venue, is a sustainable and wind-powered winery, and they really wanted to honor its eco-friendly vibe. We loved the idea of printing the invitations on wood veneer sheets, which creates a unique and tactile experience for guests upon opening the envelope.

We kept the invitation card clean, simple, and type-driven so the texture of the actual wood card would be the main focus. To balance out the wood and incorporate that bohemian feel, I created purple watercolor flowers that we used on the RSVP card and info card, which included details about all the weekend festivities.

I also used the purple watercolor brush strokes from the flowers to create a background on a paper belly band, which wrapped about the entire suite. The soft purple made a real statement on top of the wood veneer! The belly band featured a custom wedding monogram that we used throughout their wedding paper story, including their programs, favors, and menus.

The rest of the invitation suite was digitally printed, with the insert cards on cream paper stock to complement the darker wood tones of the invitation card. Kim and Greg were a fantastic couple because they gave me such a clear sense of their vision, but trusted me to run with it and create something unique, approachable, and reflective of them as a couple.

Elegant Rustic Coral Wedding Invitations

Beautiful modern calligraphy paired with a fantastic vintage coral velvet ribbon? Yes, please! These elegant rustic coral wedding invitations from Melissa of Atheneum Creative pair elegant letterpress printed calligraphy with a sophisticated gray, white, and coral color palette and rustic wood details throughout the invitation suite. Absolutely gorgeous!

From Melissa: Hadley and Ross planned a rustic wedding in the mountains, but wanted their wedding to be sophisticated and elegant at the same time. We started working on their wedding monogram and their wedding stationery with that concept in mind: rustic, modern, and softly elegant.

The wedding invitation was letterpress printed with gray calligraphy text on white paper, then bound with a vintage velvet coral ribbon and a custom wood tag featuring the wedding monogram. The coral ribbon is absolutely gorgeous when paired with the cherry wood tag! The wedding invitation suite also included an accordion-fold booklet with a wood front and back cover. The booklet listed all of the wedding events and contained a custom map. The wood booklet cover helped provide the rustic feel for the invitation suite. A letterpress printed reception card in coral calligraphy, a formal RSVP card in gray calligraphy, and gray envelopes completed the invitation suite.

We also had lots of fun with their day-of wedding stationery. Napkins and stir sticks in matching colors, ceremony programs, and more! Our favorite detail of all has to be the custom copper cups that were sitting at everyone place setting. The copper just popped right off the table! We also made a custom coffee travel cup for guests to grab for brunch on the go the following morning.

Modern Neon Typography Wedding Invitations

I’ll always have a soft place in my heart for typography-driven wedding invitations, especially when there’s a pop of neon involved! Sabrina from Smudge Ink sent over these bold and modern neon typography invitations for a wedding in Boston Harbor. I’m absolutely loving the playful wording throughout the invitation suite, from the RSVP cards to the adorable lobster eating guides!

Modern Neon Typography Wedding Invitations by Smudge Ink / Oh So Beautiful Paper

From Sabrina: Elizabeth and Tucker weren’t afraid to speak volumes when it came to their invitations. I knew it would be a fun suite to design as soon as I saw their wedding hashtag #atuckinggoodtime (a clever play on their names). And Alexis, their event designer and wondergal behind The Little Things, was already brimming with ideas for how to capture the couple’s vision for a lively celebration on the Boston Harbor Islands.

The natural elements provided by the rocky beaches and green landscape of Thompson Island would be a nice escape from the city. But for their stationery Elizabeth and Tucker wanted to offset the rustic feel of their venue with a more bold and modern aesthetic. We immediately decided to keep the look feeling clean cut and fresh with a typography-only design. To play up the couple’s big and bright personalities, we chose to letterpress print in neon coral and gray inks. A coordinating gray envelope liner with one of the couple’s favorite quotes brought everything together.

I love how we paired their affinity for clean typography with slightly cheeky copy that perfectly captured their fun-loving personalities. From the replies to the ferry schedule, coming up with just the right wording was probably my favorite part of their stationery. We carried this playfulness right up to the wedding day with letterpress printed programs and how-to-eat-lobster “menus.”
