Lorna + Jose’s Puerto Rico Destination Wedding Invitations

02/28/2011

Our first set of wedding invitations this week comes to us from Leslie Vega Design – for a wedding taking place this summer in Puerto Rico!  Although Lorna and José are originally from Puerto Rico, many of their guests will be traveling to attend the wedding, and they wanted wedding invitations that reflected both their own heritage as well as the natural beauty of the island, all in a truly stunning shade of royal blue.

From Leslie:  Our lovely bride, Lorna and her fiance, José, will be getting married in the beautiful destination setting of the Hacienda Seista Alegre in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.  Lorna and Jose are both natives of Puerto Rico and wanted their wedding to reflect the beauty of their spanish heritage.  There is meaning throughout every element of this suite.

The design of their letterpress suite uses blue spanish inspired patterns, vintage elements and a special, carefully hand drawn ‘Flamboyan’ tree – a tree especially known for it’s grandiose beauty seen all throughout the island of Puerto Rico.  The two birds placed over an intricate depiction of an infinity symbol signify the love story of how they met in college during a calculus class where the infinity symbol is commonly used.

{happy monday}

02/28/2011

Whew!  Three days, five states, and more than 900 miles later I’m incredibly happy to be back at home in DC.  I’m a wee bit tired from a long driving weekend, so I thought I would share a few photos from our road trip and some of my favorite links from last week before jumping back into the swing of things.

We stopped in the lovely and charming coastal town of Beaufort, South Carolina.  Have any of you been there?  We really enjoyed our time there!

{happy weekend!}

02/25/2011

Happy Friday everyone!  I’ve actually been in my home state of Florida this entire week, helping my Mom pack up her house for a move up to the DC area (where she’ll be closer to me, yay!).  By the time you all read this, the boxes will have been packed, truck will have been loaded up, and we’ll be getting on the road for the drive back up to DC.  We’re planning to make a nice weekend out of it, perhaps stopping in Savannah and a couple of other towns along I-95 on the way back up north.  So I’m going to wish you all a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you all back here on Monday!

Nursery Artwork – Colorful Peacock Print for Manisha

02/24/2011

Reena from 3 Bees Paperie sent over this peacock print that she created for a former wedding invitation client, Manisha, who was expecting her first daughter.  Manisha loved the animated short film “Sita Sings the Blues” and wanted a peacock poster print for her daughter’s nursery, so Reena happily obliged.  The bright colors and patterns are so perfect for a baby nursery!
