Vintage Hawaii meets modern chic sensibility. There’s something about the old surfer vibe that gets me going. Maybe it’s because I grew up in San Diego or because I have an appreciation for the relaxed beach vibe. When Kellie told me she wanted to capture that feeling in her invitation suite, I knew I was going to have fun with this. Inspired by the iconic typography in hatch show print posters, each piece artfully incorporates all travel and party details combined with hand drawn hibiscus, hula girls and of course, surfers.
Who doesn’t think of beautiful blue waters and romantic sunsets when you picture a wedding in Jamaica? The goal was to capture that feeling of resort relaxation as you watch the tropical evening sunset. The natural woven bamboo outside and the color intensity of my watercolor painting on the inside, represented both the beauty of the Round Hill resort and the breathtaking views of nature’s surroundings. The painting, based on Merrill’s dress detailing, is filled with a spectrum of blues and greens with accents of intense oranges.
When Alethia and Erik came to me, all they knew was that they wanted gold and purple to be their colors. Instantly I felt they were the type that wouldn’t shy away from a little opulent drama for their designs – especially since they were getting married at Gotham Hall. Playing off their royal color palette, I combined gold metallic foiling with purple letterpress on beautiful papers. The whole package came in a purple envelope and laser cut sleeve that created an unexpected detail of surprise. Guests slid the invite out to present the magnificent gold Ceci damask. All accessories carried the look over into the wedding day.
An invitation fit for royalty. Complete with hand made gold engraved monogrammed emblems, custom printed velvet and shimmering details that elegantly set the stage for Azie and Wale’s multi-day wedding event in Lagos, Nigeria. Desiring to stand out from what was traditionally sent in Nigeria, Azie and Wale, let me create a one-of-a-kind spectacle. The save the date announced both events and playfully showed a little plane flying from NYC to Lagos. All details were hand drawn exclusively for the couple. Their custom Ceci logo is now used proudly in their every day life. A memory to last a lifetime.
The wedding invitation of Ceci New York’s own founder! With a nod to my love of the romantic Spanish culture, I hand painted my own 15th century mural as a tribute to my new life together with Alan. Full of meaning and personal symbolism, the mural boasts a tree of life in the center of the liner, continuing onto the back of the invitation that presents our gold wedding crest. The peacock is a symbol of beauty and fidelity. While the lion symbolizes strength. Both historically guarded the royal courts back in time which represented our old world “feast of family and friends” intimate celebration.
