Welcome!

Hi there everyone! If you’re reading this, hopefully that means that you’ve found me on the new url. I hope you like the updated look â€“Â it’s been in the works for quite a long time and I’m very happy to finally be able to share it with all of you. So as an introduction to the updated look, I thought I’d share my new business cards with you!

As you may have noticed, I have a new logo that was created for me by the immensely talented Bryn from Paperfinger. In addition to being featured in the new blog navigation bar, I made sure to incorporate the logo into a new set of business cards before heading up to the National Stationery Show a couple weeks ago:

The cards were printed for me by my newest sponsor, Studio on Fire â€“Â we went with a double-sided card with a horizontal orientation on one side and vertical on the other:

Of course, my signature light pink as the main ink color and a diagonal stripe blind impression on the side with the new logo:

I love my new cards! And speaking of business cards, I have an awesome giveaway coming up a bit later today – so check back soon!

{happy weekend – and a big announcement!}

I know, I know, it's only Wednesday but I'm taking a very short blogging break for a very good reason, I'm moving to a new site on my very own url! Over the next couple of days we'll be moving all of the content over to the new site and getting it ready to share with all of you! I hope you'll come check out the new digs starting Tuesday, June 1 (after the holiday weekend), where I'll have a Father's Day card round-up, a couple giveaways, and some truly spectacular wedding invitations that I've been saving for you! But in the meantime…

Erin + Jeremy’s Literary Vintage-Inspired Wedding Invitations

I love the concept behind this week’s real invitations a collection of individual pieces resembling vintage paper ephemera from the 1800s through the 1950s! Â Hello!Lucky, the design team behind this custom wedding invitation suite, combined letterpress and digital printing to create a sense of romance and nostalgia:

From the Hello!Lucky team: We designed these invitations for our dear friend Erin and her fiance Jeremy for their upcoming destination wedding in Calistoga, California. Â The bride and groom are both academics Erin teaches law and Jeremy is an astrophysicist so they wanted their invitation to have a book-ish feel.

We decided to use the concept of a collection of found paper memorabilia including a book-page invitation, a snapshot of the bride and groom, map and shuttle bus enclosures, brunch ticket, and RSVP telegram giving the invitation suite a vintage, romantic and nostalgic feel.

The wedding invitation is inspired by the opening chapter of a classic novel (think Jane Austen) and was letterpress printed on deckle-edged paper to emulate a page torn from an authentic book. Â Wedding details are printed on a vintage-style postcard from Calistoga, the wedding’s location.

The RSVP card is a letterpress printed Western Union telegram and includes witty, mad-lib style blanks that guests can fill out. Â We also designed a 1950’s-style “advertisement” for the free wedding shuttle, including a information card enclosed in a small coin envelope, as well as a vintage bus-ticket invitation to the farewell brunch.

A old-fashioned map of downtown Calistoga guides guests to their hotels and local attractions. Â We also designed a state fair-inspired rehearsal dinner invitation for a Kansas City style BBQ (the groom hails from Kansas City), featuring a picnic napkin checker pattern and a blue-ribbon pig. Â Finally, we included a smallÂ black and white snapshot of the bride and groom posing in a bookish manner.

Sigh… I love the romanticism of the novel page invitation, while the accompanying enclosures bring an overall balance to the full suite. Â So lovely!

NSS 2010 – Part 5

Studio Olivine was back at this year's Stationery Show — and I couldn't have been happier to see these beautiful letterpress cards in person. I absolutely love the organic shapes and nature-inspired imagery:

The a. favorite design booth was packed to the brim with gorgeous letterpress stationery — from sweet valentine's day cards to bold typography greeting cards, there was so much to see!

I also spent quite a bit of time over with Jackie from 42 Pressed — I particularly love her approach to designing colorful and modern wedding invitations and baby announcements:

And speaking of wedding invitations, Emily Ley was at this year's show to debut her new wedding invitation and social stationery collection for The English Paper Company!

NSS 2010 – Part 3

Today is the last day of the Stationery Show, and while it's been an exhausting few days I'm definitely sad to see the show come to a close. So before I jump into full recaps, here are a few more favorite booths from this year's show:

First up, Saima Says Design — and while she's actually based in DC, this was the first time Saima and I had a chance to meet! I've been a huge fan of Saima's work ever since my own wedding planning days, and I'm happy to report that her wedding invitation suites are even more beautiful in person!

Flora and Fauna Press have some seriously beautiful letterpress stationery — the poster-style calendar below was one of my favorite calendars from this year's show. They also had some beautiful wedding invitations, including a gorgeous suite below with blind impression text for the wedding date:

Lisa from Sapling Press definitely made me laugh with her collection of "we go together like" cards — from teenage girls and vampires to blogs and comments, I just couldn't help but giggle. She also has a beautiful collection of letterpress wedding invitations and baby announcements!
