Quick Pick: Sycamore Street Press

Sycamore Street Press debuted a bunch of new letterpress prints at the National Stationery Show back in May, and both the new prints (and some old favorites) have been on my mind ever since as I try to plan out the nursery artwork.  Here are a few of my favorites – I’d love to hear yours!

Andrea + Taylor’s Pink and Orange Modern Wedding Invitations

This vibrant pink and orange wedding invitation suite comes to us from one of my favorite stationery shops – Lion in the Sun in Brooklyn.  The in-house design team at Lion in the Sun began by creating a save the date inspired by the wedding venue in Hilton Head, South Carolina.  The bright color palette continued for the invitation suite, which also incorporated a classic script font and gold edge painting for added sophistication.

From Melinda and Dave of Lion in the Sun: Andrea and Taylor’s wedding in Hilton Head started out with a fun and festive save the date featuring the Daufuskie Island Lighthouse illustrated in house by our talented design team.  Bright pink and creamsicle inks were used throughout the wedding from start to finish.

When the time came to design the invitations, Andrea and Taylor spent lots of time making sure that the style was was formal but still fun!  We used Bickham Swash for their names and added gold edging to give the invitation some formality.  Then we added fun motifs and graphics to get the guests excited about all of the fun wedding activities.

For the day-of stationery, Andrea ordered brightly colored cocktail napkins with her favorite drink recipe printed on them for a personal touch to the cocktail hour.  We loved working on this gorgeous invitation suite!

Stationery A – Z: New Baby Congratulations

Boy or girl, little ‘peanut’ or ‘monkey’ (for those hoping to be surprised on the due date), there are so many clever new baby congratulations cards out there.  Don’t even think about going to get those generic ones at the corner drugstore!  These cards are just a click away or, if you’re lucky, waiting for you at your local stationery shop.  Plus, you’ve got time, due dates are subjective, right?*  Nearly every gender-specific card on our list is also accompanied by its counterpart on their website.  As for the perfect baby shower gift … best wishes!  — Tashia

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Fringe

Fringe certainly isn’t a new phenomenon when it comes to event decor, but recently I’ve been seeing it pop up in wedding day stationery too – and I couldn’t be happier!  Yes, it makes a fun backdrop for a ceremony or dessert bar, but it also makes a fantastic addition to place cards, menus, and table numbers!  If your stationery doesn’t come pre-fringed, adding a little bit to your calligraphed place cards or letterpress printed menus is a great DIY touch. — Kelly
