Navy + Gold Foil Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

Since we’re on the topic of gorgeous calligraphy today, I thought I’d share one of my favorite wedding invitations from the last couple of years.  This stunning navy and gold foil invitation was designed by the bride, Kate, and features calligraphy from Plurabelle.  I’m particularly drawn to the modern sophistication of the calligraphy, while the gold foil elements make everything fun and festive.  Love!

Sophisticated Letterpress Birth Announcements for Baby Adler

I’m absolutely in love with these sophisticated baby announcements from Lisa at Missive – from the 1950s-inspired typography and subtle touches of gold foil to the beveled edges and gold envelope liner.  Lisa was inspired by the turquoise and gold wallpaper that she chose for Adler’s bedroom, and the resulting design is an elegant way to announce the arrival of a little gentleman!

From Lisa: My son Adler’s announcements were inspired by the design of his nursery, in particular, the turquoise, black, and antique gold wallpaper that hangs on the wall behind his crib. I used this color palette as a starting point to create a sophisticated letterpress announcement for my little gentleman.

To infuse a little history and personal sentiment into the design, I scanned the text that reads “Announcing” from a vintage 1950s birth announcement — my own mother’s — and created a clean, deco style to complement it.

I added special touches like beveled corners on the card and photo, and with the help of our good friend and fellow printer Tim Butler of Quality Letterpress, added foil stamping in an antique gold color to match the envelope liners.

Thanks so much Lisa!  And congratulations on baby Adler!

{happy weekend!}

This has been quite a whirlwind of a week and a long weekend is just what I need to help recover.  My husband and I are approaching the last phase of our first pregnancy, and earlier this week we found out that our baby will be making a slightly earlier entrance than originally expected – possibly in just a couple of weeks!  To be honest, I’m both a little freaked out by our new accelerated timeframe, worried about making sure that our baby stays healthy, and excited to finally meet this little person!  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Since Monday is the Labor Day holiday here in the U.S., I’ll be taking the long weekend to rest and refocus, but I’ll see you all back here on Tuesday! xoxo

Lindsey + Bradley’s Elegant Pink and Gold Foil Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  We’re starting the week with these elegant wedding invitations in one of my favorite color combinations (pink and gold!) from Kimberly at Daily Sip Studios.  Kimberly combined gold foil with pale pink paper for an incredibly sophisticated wedding invitation suite.  So beautiful!

From Kimberly: This design was custom made for a bride who designed her wedding around a pink, coral, and metallic gold color palette.  For the invitations, she wanted something unique and wanted her husband-to-be’s name as the focal point of the invitation design.  I accomplished this by designing their names in Adios Script font with an extra point stroke.

We had just enough room on the press for a matching accommodations card, reply card, and a monogram square.  The amazing thing about this wedding invitation suite is that the appearance changes with the lighting.  When viewed in sunlight, it has a beautiful radiant metallic glow!

The metallic foil wedding suite was delicately letterpress printed  on textured Pale Pink Arturo paper by a renowned printer in Chicago, who prints metallic foil projects using special copper plates (as opposed to plastic or steel-backed photopolymper plates).

Michelle + Martin’s Classic Purple Edge Painted Wedding Invitations

These sophisticated wedding invitations from Courtney Callahan Paper combine modern patterns with pops of color and a classic calligraphy font – all letterpress printed on soft and thick cotton paper.  I love the bold dose of color from the purple envelope liner and edge painting!

From Courtney: Michelle and Marty, a NYC-based couple, have a dynamite sense of style and wanted a fresh, modern wedding invitation suite that also incorporated their wedding colors, slate and plum.  Mixing bold patterns is one of my favorite design techniques, so when a bride tells me she is not afraid of pattern – it’s music to my ears!

Letterpress printed on Crane’s Lettra Pearl White, this oversized square invitation combined quatrefoil and geometric circles in slate with pops of plum on the invitation edging and inner envelope liner.  A flourished calligraphy font adds just a touch of timeless elegance to the overall suite.
