Quick Pick: Antiquaria

Today I’m practically bursting with joy – our friends and longtime DIY contributors Bailey and Emma of Antiquaria just launched their brand new collection of greeting cards and notebooks! And if that wasn’t enough, they’re also making the jump into wholesale with a collection that includes both the new greeting cards and their beautiful patterned paper! The new collection is absolutely stunning, with beautiful illustrations, whimsical lettering and calligraphy, and lots of metallic foil. Today I’d love to share a few favorites from the new collection!

Margaux + Fuad’s Rustic French Wedding Invitations

Sigh… a wedding in the French countryside? Yes please! Melissa from Atheneum Creative sent over the beautiful bilingual invitations that she created for this rustic French wedding. Melissa rose to the bilingual challenge by incorporating different printing methods within the nature-inspired color palette. Such a gorgeous invitation suite!

From Melissa: Margaux and Fuad’s wedding took place in France earlier this summer. The gorgeous wedding location featured lush surroundings combined with rustic history. Located on the grounds is a very unique pigeon house that was just begging to be used as a design element for the wedding… which gave us our wedding logo. It’s always so much fun to start the wedding process with a logo or monogram that really has a story and gives the guest a little glimpse of what’s to come.

Our challenge was to incorporate both French and English languages as the invitations were mailed in France and the US. We decided to duplex all the cards and switch the colors – with green letterpress printing on white paper on one side and white foil printing on green paper on the other side. This gave us the look we wanted on either side of the invitation.

The color palette spoke more to the wedding venue with small touches – like the kraft paper reply envelope – that added just enough of the rustic interior to balance the invitation suite.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! And holy moly – how is it mid-August already?!?! I’m less than two months away from my late September due date with this baby, and time seems to be flying by faster and faster each day. I hope to have a couple of baby update posts for you all next week – even though this is our second child, and therefore seems way less overwhelming than the first time around, I could use your advice on a few things! But in the meantime…

Robin + Sergei’s Floral and Gold Foil Wedding Invitations

Maybe it’s the influence of summer, but I can’t get enough bright and bold color these days! Luckily, Nicole from Umama sent over these colorful wedding invitations. The invitations pair a deep vivid pink, marigold yellow, and graphic floral elements – along with some shiny metallic gold foil! So pretty!

From Nicole: Robin was super excited and passionate about all the little design details in the invitation. The invitation combines a deep, vivid pink and a bright marigold yellow, along with gold foil to bring out the flowers.

Robin took the time to learn the basics of Illustrator to create her own custom monogram. She also learned how to revise fonts in order to achieve just the right flourish. We explored paper options for the envelope liners until we truly captured the vivid vibe with a touch of gold to bring in that extra element. It was truly a melding of two minds that resulted in something we were both excited about.

The end product is digitally printed on Crane cotton Lettra paper with a second printing of gold foil by Boxcar Press. The reply card was printed similarly, with a custom die cut around the floral design. The insert card was printed entirely in gold foil. The three pieces were wrapped in a gold patterned ribbon and sealed with the embossed monogram designed by Robin.

Happy Weekend!

Well, hello August! My dad is coming down this weekend to help with some pre-baby house projects – and he’s staying all week, such a treat! I’m excited for Sophie to get some Grandpa time, which sadly doesn’t happen nearly often enough. I’m heading out to prepare for a few projects and (ahem) tidy up the house a bit, but in the meantime…
