2009 Holiday Cards, Part 7

It’s usually around this time of year that I wish I could slow things down a bit.  With only a couple of weeks left before Christmas, it’s time to make sure that holiday lists are made and cards are nearly ready to send out.  And with so many great holiday cards this year, it’s getting harder and harder to choose!

Happy Holidays Postcard

Hi again — I'm back!  My husband and I drove up to Central New York this weekend to visit his family, so I took an impromptu 3-day weekend to chase after our niece and nephew for a few days.  We decorated their Christmas Tree, went to the Zoo (my nephew's first trip!), and even managed to squeeze in a tour of the Boxcar Press studio and press room (so awesome) while we were out of town.  Such a fun weekend!  And since you were all so patient with me, I've got a little something to share with you!

Maddy from The Inspired Bride created this super-cute holiday postcard, which I'm in turn sharing with you as a free download!  You can get yours by clicking right here and print out at home onto 4×6" cardstock.  Just remember, for personal (non-profit) use only.  Enjoy!

Custom Holiday Card Designs

So far I've been focused on all the yummy holiday stationery collections, but I'm sure there are a bunch of you planning to order custom cards this season.  I've got a fun giveaway coming up on that a bit later today, but in the meantime I thought I'd gather a quick round-up of a few lovely custom holiday cards!

First up, these incredibly detailed die cut letterpress cards printed by Studio on Fire for Eight Hour Day.  I love the typography details and the way the trees can be punched out of the main card to create a desktop Christmas tree:

On the more traditional side, Moontree Letterpress printed these holiday invitations with a beautiful poinsettia illustration by calligrapher Jennifer Nicholson:

Of course, if you're looking to include a family photo with your holiday cards, these cards from Wiley Valentine printed on cotton paper maintain a beautiful balance between the photo and holiday design details:

And finally, these custom holiday cards by Smock show how a single-color letterpress holiday card can be both simple and beautiful:

Do you have a tradition of custom holiday cards in your family?  Are any of you planning to create your own holiday cards this season?

2009 Holiday Cards, Part 1

As you've all noticed, the holiday stationery season is most definitely now in effect.  And since there are so many great designs starting to come out, I'm breaking my holiday card coverage this year up into a few smaller posts over the next few weeks.  So, first up, a perennial favorite Linda & Harriett with a festive holiday collection — featuring a friendly Moose!

Next up, Dutch Door Press, with letterpress cards inspired by the 12 days of Christmas and a few other themes of the holiday season:

These coffee cup holiday cards from Maida Vale are super cute:

I love the blind impression details in these letterpress holiday cards from 12fifteen:

In somewhat holiday-related news, I'll be working on the second and final 2010 calendar round-up over the weekend.  And with all the calendars that have come out over the last couple of weeks, part 2 might end up being even bigger than part 1!  Hopefully I've seen every calendar at this point, but just wanted to put out one last call for any designers who might not have submitted their calendars yet.
