Kate + Conor’s Travel-Inspired Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! You already know that I have a major case of wanderlust, so these travel-inspired wedding invitations from designer Sarah Drake are a sight for sore eyes! Created for a wedding in Door County, Wisconsin, the invitations and day-of stationery feature everything from silhouettes and a custom crest to beautiful map envelope liners to a lace pattern that matches the bride’s wedding dress. Stunning!

From Sarah: Everything about working with Kate and Conor was a dream, from creating their custom crest and silhouettes to deciding on the perfect slate blue and gray to complement their venue’s color palette.

We sourced a vintage marine map of northern Wisconsin to line the envelopes, and created our own map of Egg Harbor for the letterpress invitation suite. The finishing touch was the whimsical calligraphy by Stacey Shapiro.

We also created paper products for the reception, including custom cocktail napkins, flag escort cards, menus, and ceremony programs.

Sophie Style: Summer 2013

I’ll admit it: I have way too much fun dressing Sophie every morning. Even though I largely limit myself to sale sections, I’ve been able to find some really adorable outfits. Her closet is full of pretty patterns (stripes and polka dots are favorites, of course), fun colors, and lots of interchangeable pieces. Now that she’s crawling, I like to pair leggings (to protect her little knees) with sleeveless tops, but on really hot days I’ll switch to shorts or a simple dress. These are a few of my favorite outfits in Sophie’s closet this summer:

1. chambray top + stripe leggings from Baby Gap; 2. top from Carter’s, shorts from Target; 3. dress from Old Navy; 4. top + leggings from Baby Gap; 5. chambray tunic (also available in pink!) + leggings from Carter’s

Jillian + Lee’s Travel-Inspired Airmail Wedding Invitations

After many years as a long distance couple, Jillian and Lee worked with designer Christine Loo of Heritage + Joy to create a travel-inspired wedding invitation suite with airmail details. Christine also incorporated Jillian and Lee’s color palette of cream, soft pink, and navy blue and elegant script fonts to complement their castle (!!) wedding venue. So lovely!

From Christine: Jillian and Lee were married this past May at the beautiful Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York. They decided to go with a travel theme to reflect the nature of their long distance relationship. She is originally from New York, he from the United Kingdom. Over the years, they had travelled many miles to see each other and spend time together, from London to New York to Paris. Lee even proposed on a special trip to St. Lucia!

Jillian and Lee chose a beautiful color palette for their castle wedding — soft pinks and creams for their flowers, and long navy dresses for the bridesmaids. We worked together to design a wedding invitation suite that was modern, soft, with just a hint of vintage flair to reflect handwritten letters.

I created different variations of passport stamps that we incorporated into the suite that reflected some of the different locations they had travelled to. The suite was printed on soft white paper and inserted into navy inner envelopes before going into outer envelopes, giving them just the right elegant touch.

Zavier’s Cheerful Bow Tie First Birthday Party Invitations

These first birthday party invitations from Leslie of Lilly & Louise are so darling! The accordion fold invitations celebrate all of the wonderful first experiences in Zavier’s first year, from his first word to first book, along with an adorable bowtie theme perfect for a sweet little man. The sunny blue and yellow color palette completes the design!

From Leslie: As anyone who has ever been to a first birthday party knows, the party is not only to celebrate baby’s first year, but also to celebrate that mom and dad made it through the first year of parenthood. We created a colorful, four-panel accordion folding invitation for Zavier’s first birthday party inspired by bowties and new experiences.

As the panels unfold they reveal details such as hand lettering, a list of sweet firsts that Zavier experienced during his first year (first book, first food, first word), and hand-drawn bowties for this little man.

The design was letterpress printed with three colors: teal, gray, and bright yellow. We used a bold teal and white chevron envelope liner against a lemony yellow outer envelope.

Peter + Kristy’s Rustic Letterpress Wedding Invitations

You may remember Peter and Kristy’s fantastic die cut save the dates from back in March – and today Peter is back to share the wedding invitations! Peter and Kristy wanted to honor the rustic and romantic feel of their barn wedding venue. They opted for blue and white wedding invitations letterpress printed by Twig & Fig, along with kraft paper and rubber stamp accents. I love the way the entire suite came together!

From Peter: We went for a rustic but fun look: the wedding was at a winery with a rustic red barn and we wanted to capture the old fashioned but romantic look. We had a lot of fun playing around with fonts and different ways to give the text depth. We’re just really happy with how they turned out and that we were able to do most of the work ourselves.

The main invitation was letterpress printed at Twig & Fig on 220lb letterpress paper. The RSVP, map, rehearsal dinner invitation, and envelopes were printed at home on kraft paper and 110lb letterpress paper.

We made our own belly bands and stamped them with a custom stamp and then tied it all together with navy and white butchers twine.  My mother had a shoe box full of old unused postage so we got to be creative with stamps as well. We used rubber number stamps on the RSVP card to indicate how many seats we had reserved for each party.
