Best-of Real Wedding Invitations – Julia Rothman

When I was going through my archives looking for favorite invitations to feature, I knew that the gorgeous wedding invitations by Julia Rothman would definitely be in the mix.  I first featured Julia’s invitations waaaay back here in October 2008, and Julia was kind enough to share the creative process that led to her beautiful wedding invitations:

Julia illustrated and hand-lettered her wedding invitations, which were then letterpress printed by a friend as a wedding gift.  I love the organic feel of Julia’s illustrations — not to mention the fantastic banner for the invitation text.  Oh, and since I’m featuring her invitations, how amazing are her illustrated table number signs?

Paper Artwork – Cindy Tomczyk

Hi everyone!  So by the time you're all reading this I'll be on my way to warm and sunny Florida (yay!), but don't worry — I've got a few posts with some of my all-time favorite past wedding invitations to keep you company over the next few days.  But first, I wanted to let you know about a giveaway from one of my favorite artists, Cindy Tomczyk:

2009 Holiday Cards, Part 6

I'm getting ready to head off to Florida tomorrow (hooray for sun and 70 degrees!) for the Thanksgiving holiday — but I couldn't head off without sharing a few more holiday cards…

First up, these illustrated and hand-lettered cards from Sycamore Street Press are always among my perennial favorites:

The Pink Orange has a beautiful collection of letterpress holiday cards — including these adorable holiday birds and silver bells:

This year, I'm absolutely loving these gocco-printed winter cards and gift tags by WonderWonder:

The subtle detailing on these letterpress holiday cards (and gift tags) from Missive is so, so beautiful:

Quilled Marriage Certificate

Quilling is one of the few paper arts that I actually know very little about — but I’m definitely curious to learn more when I see the results of this amazing technique.  Quilling expert Ann Martin sent over this beautiful wedding certificate that she recently created using silver-gilded black paper:

Can you see the subtle silver detailing on the floral elements below? The calligraphy on the marriage certificate was done by Carole Foster.

Luckily for us, Ann has posted tutorials on her blog for anyone interested in learning about this beautiful technique – like this one on how to create a beautiful filigree flower card.  Thanks Ann!

Paper Artwork – Amy Marcella

I first came across these beautiful gocco prints from Amy Marcella when doing research for my calendar posts and fell in love — the red and gold hues seem so fitting for fall and the holiday season:

I also really love this watercolor painting, titled Molecular Mountains:
