Australian heritage, an old Post Office landmark building paired with a desire to create a Parisian artisanal feel for a party on New Year’s Eve provided the perfect ingredients for a design challenge. From the beginning Lara was ready to make a one-of-kind statement. I turned the invitation on its side and slipped it into an ultra luxe sleeve, giving classic design a revival. Sealed with a sticker fashioned like an old postage stamp (a nod to the venue’s history). The sleeve presented their custom Ceci logo. Guests couldn’t wait to celebrate the dual occasions!

Inspired by the ceiling of the Palm Court at the famous Plaza Hotel in New York City, this design had to encompass all the grandeur and beauty of the venue. I love that Erin was not afraid to put a modern spin on the classic invite. I created my own rendition of the spectacular glass ceiling which boldly presents itself on the back of her invitation – their monogram center stage. Paired with hand drawn details of the ornate tiling patterns and flowing gilded filigree that adorns the columned walls of the space. Printed in antique shades of golds with a hint of soft apricot mixed in. Classic elegance redefined!

Inspired by the ornate grandeur of St. Catherine’s Palace in Russia, luxurious purple velvet, gold foil with mixes of opulent gold lace combine together to create this incredibly luxe stationery suite. The save the dates, in both Russian and English, were sent in handmade purple boxes. Guests opened metal clasps on the gold-laced folder to reveal the beautiful invitation in gold foil on thick cream stock. RSVP and travel cards were presented in ribbon pockets on the sides. My goal was to create a tastefully elaborate design that captured the essence of Angelina and Ryan. “It’s so us!” they cried gratefully.

Brooke came to me with a hippo and a piece of African kitenge fabric she had cherished from their travels and work in Africa. She had no idea how these would translate into her invitations. A cultural design challenge! I took this as an opportunity to create their own custom print and not only worked it into their paper but even created fabrics that Brooke used for the table runners and groomsmen ties! I carried the details into the escort cards incorporating her hippo and other fun icons I made to symbolize their celebration.

Even though Maya was having a country wedding at the Red Barn in Vermont, she didn’t want to focus on the traditional outdoor motifs one would expect. Instead we took a different approach and gave a nod to their Hollywood producer sensibility and created a hand drawn illustration of the couple zooming off in their vintage Porsche to the country. Since every detail counts, I attached the red satin ribbon around her neck so when guests untied it, the ribbon would be flying in the wind as if it was her glamorous red scarf. So fun!
