Wedding Invitation Idea – Books!

One of my favorite invitations from the last couple of weeks came from this wedding over on Once Wed.  I was particularly taken with the letterpress invitation booklet that the couple created:

From the bride, Sara: The inside included the formal invitation, a hand drawn map and a postcard for the response card. Out of town guests had an additional perforated piece with travel information on half, and a response card for the rehearsal dinner. We assembled the whole thing by hand, sewing each book up with some string.

I also love how the couple carried the faux bois graphic from their invitation booklet into other elements of the wedding:

For even more invitation booklet goodness, Christine posted a link to these jaw-dropping and absolutely stunning wedding invitation books (an honest-to-goodness bound book!):

There’s more (including DIY instructions if you’re not afraid to get your hands reeeaaallly messy) over at Merriment Design.  I love the idea of a wedding invitation booklet (or actual book if you’re so inclined) – these would make wonderful keepsakes for family and friends, particularly for a more intimate wedding.  Anyone else thinking about doing something similar for their own wedding?

Wedding Style Inspiration: Christian Siriano

Jose Villa recently posted this beautiful wedding on his blog, and the bride wore this amazing ruffled dress by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano:

I clicked over to Christian’s website, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the gorgeous layers and ruffles that helped him win Project Runway are still prominent features in his Spring 2009 collection in a lovely palette of soft grays and yellow:

I know this look isn’t for everyone, but I would love to see a wedding with bridesmaids rocking the shorter dress above!  So chic, particularly for a big city wedding. I think this dress is my favorite. I could totally see this as a wedding dress in layers of white and cream fabric:

Wedding Programs – Flush Designs

Such a sweet idea!  These are the ceremony programs from the wedding of Courtney from Flush Designs. She made 4 different versions that incorporated collages of notes, drawings, journal
entries and fun items from her 10-year relationship with her now-husband:

Wedding Invitations — Hammerpress

With the holidays now behind us, it feels like a good time to start focusing on wedding invitations again.  I’ve had Hammerpress bookmarked for a long, long time, and I couldn’t resist sharing a few of my favorites from their custom letterpress wedding invitations portfolio:

I love Hammerpress’s use of pattern details, from maps to damask, to help the personality of each couple shine through in the invitation.  And as each invitation suite is entirely custom, Hammerpress would be a great option for any couple looking, as Hammerpress says on their website, “for something a bit out of the ordinary for your wedding day.”
