Watercolor Illustrated Notecards from Felix Doolittle

I’m loving these illustrated notecards from Felix Doolittle, a small family company in Massachusetts that makes gorgeous cards, labels, and more featuring original watercolor illustrations from Hong Kong-born artist Felix Fu.  He paints each design to scale with a tiny little brush!

Their notecard collections are printed on premium heavyweight paper and packaged in a case that looks like a book.  They also have themed collections which feature three different illustrations around a theme, like sea glass, peonies, or coral.  So pretty!

Colorful Jungle-Inspired Lasercut Party Invitations from Zenadia Design

Last week Heidi from Zenadia Design shared these elegant peony invitations for a 50th birthday, and this week she’s back with something totally different – an ’80s-inspired jungle theme invitation!  Heidi created these invitations for a corporate holiday party and she definitely went all out on the details – from vibrant colors to a zebra pattern envelope liner to a lasercut jungle scene on the outside flap of the invitation.  These are definitely different, but a whole lot of fun.

From Heidi: Designed for a modern Jungle Safari themed party, this invitation was inspired by the artist Nagel and all things 80’s with a jungle vibe.  The invitation features a laser cut jungle scene on the outer flap, and comes in a zebra lined envelope.  Jungle foliage details and colors echo the 1980’s in this flat printed invitation.

Ashley + Peter’s Yellow and Gray Patterned Letterpress Wedding Invitations

As far as color combinations go, yellow and gray will always be one of my favorites.  Sarah from The Happy Envelope created these gorgeous wedding invitations for a destination wedding in Napa Valley.  She paired elegant script and serif fonts with beautiful patterns for an overall design that is both laid back and sophisticated – and completely stunning.

From Sarah: This wedding is a Napa Valley destination event.  The upbeat color palette of yellow, gray and taupe brings a sense of cheer to the whole suite.  All pieces were letterpress printed on weighty conservation board — thick enough to allow for letterpress printing on both sides of the invitation.  All pieces were printed in a warm putty gray on the front, with various patterns printed in warm yellow ink on the back of the invitation, the reply card, and the hangtag.

The entire suite is wrapped in oyster gray twine paired with a neutral khaki envelope and hand-lettered black ink calligraphy.

The bride wanted a laid-back, California feel but with an understated, simple aesthetic.  The invitation itself is fairly understated on the front with a mixture of type and a light dotted line motif.  The punch to this invitation is the bold pattern printing on the reverse side of select pieces.

Modern Green + White Nautical Moving Announcements

Lindsay from McMillian and Furlow, a Brooklyn-based design firm, sent over these modern announcements that she designed for the firm’s recent move to a new studio in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  Lindsay used the firm’s signature green and white color palette, but was inspired by the new studio location and decided to incorporate an anchor for a fun twist on a nautical theme.

From Lindsay:  When designing our moving announcements, I chose a nautical theme in an effort to honor our majestic new home in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  Spread out over 300 acres on the Brooklyn waterfront, this modern industrial park with such rich history, emerging business, and creative energy, is a welcome environment for M+F.  I’ve always loved the anchor as an icon, whether used in logos, tattoos, t-shirts, street art, etc., so I jumped at the chance to incorporate one into the layout of our moving announcements.

The balance between the slab serif industrial font and the delicate style of the anchor, along with the angled typography and playful vernacular, creates a cheerful design, communicating a sense of excitement and enthusiasm for our new home.  I printed the announcements on a heavy stock bright white paper with a smooth finish, using our Pantone green, and completed the suite with charcoal gray envelopes.

Kate + Steve’s Organic Modern Wedding Invitations

These invitations from Kate at Ruby & Willow are so much fun – the perfect way to start a new week!  Kate combined the color green with kraft paper for an organic, yet modern, design.  I love the striped RSVP card and the surprise bunting in the save the date.  Such a wonderful and unique element!

From Kate: Kate & Steve wanted to incorporate kraft cardstock and twine – two very popular trends right now – and the colour green.  The overall look they were going for was something a little rustic and organic with an element of ‘fun.’  I designed a mini pull out bunting for the save the date invitation that went inside a mini envelope, which also had some accommodation details.

The invitation itself featured a mixture of modern typography with a fun graphic logo, and contrasted with the diagonal stripes featured on the rsvp card.  For the day of stationery, a program booklet was printed on kraft paper featuring the same pattern used through out the invitation suite.
