Typography Metro System Map Posters

These posters from Trnsprtnation are so cool â€“ they combine my love for maps with my husband’s obsession with public policy and transit planning (seriously, that’s one of his hobbies â€“ and I love him for it). Â They also remind me of a certain paper-loving transit planner who guest posted here a few weeks ago. Â The subway lines for each city are comprised of text with the names of the stations along each line. Â So far the collection includes Boston, Chicago, London, New York, San Francisco, and DC. Â Metro maps have never been so beautiful!

Susie + Bradford’s Modern Chevron Stripe Wedding Invitations

The design world has been crazy for chevron stripes for a while now â€“ and it’s easy to see why! Â The zig zag pattern is clean, modern, and a lot of fun. Â I love the way Richele from Richie Designs incorporated chevron stripes into these wedding invitations. Â Richele used chevron stripes in the envelope liners and mailing labels, which pairs perfectly with the crisp green and white color palette and sans-serif type!

Jenna + Daniel’s Desert Cactus Wedding Invitations

Designer Alison Iven sent over these beautiful invitations that she created for her best friend’s wedding in Arizona. Â I love the hand lettering and the desert botanical illustrations! Â The bride loves tea, so in addition to the invitations and rsvp card Alison incorporated tea bags with the bride and groom’s initials and wedding date to help serve as a reminder for guests. Â The entire suite was packaged together in a green vellum inner envelope with a cactus illustration on the belly band. Â So pretty!

From Alison:Â I was very excited and honored to design invitations for my best friend, Jenna, for her wedding at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, Arizona. Â The venue was a major inspiration for the couple and they wanted the invitations to reflect a laid back Southwestern elegance.

I created pen and ink illustrations of different types of cacti and custom lettering using only one color for flexible printing options and to keep the cost down.

Pieces include invites and envelopes, RSVP cards, return address stamp, thank you cards, tea bags, and table numbers.

Hand Lettered Baby Shower Invitations by Scout’s Honor Co.

How cute are these hand lettered baby shower invitations from Scout’s Honor Co.? Â The entire design was originally hand painted using gouache (a technique similar to watercolor) before being scanned and printed for the final layout. Â I love the contrast of the soft blue hand painted type against the bright red envelopes. Â Just lovely!

Charles + Jazmin’s Silhouette Letterpress Wedding Invitations

A few weeks ago, I came across these gorgeous silhouette wedding invitations created by Meg at Low Country Press â€“ and immediately fell in love with the entire suite. Â The design was inspired by the professions of the bride and groom (teacher and welder, respectively), with hand rendered illustrations of icons from their careers and silhouettes of the couple.Â Meg was kind enough to share some additional images of this beautiful invitation suite courtesy of Elk Photo andÂ Jade + Matthew Take Pictures, so let’s take a look!

From Meg:Â Jazmin and Charles both have a passion for what they do â€“ she’s a teacher and he’s a welder â€“ as well as for life, and ultimately each other. Â They wanted to bring that to life through their stationery suite by including custom silhouettes as well as icons to represent what they do: a ruler, apple, and books for her teaching, and a welding mask, tool box, and spark for his welding. Â The invitations were a true first impression for the wedding, which included a photobooth complete with chalkboard backdrop and welding equipment as props.

The gray and yellow color palette represented both the bride and groom â€“ inspired by bright yellow school buses and industrial metal. Â We incorporated the color palette not only through the ink colors, but the corresponding envelopes as well. Â The envelopes also carried over the silhouettes from the invitation.

The invitation itself was printed on 220 lb Crane Lettra Bright White paper, giving the two color design beautiful letterpress impressions. Â They saved money by printing the corresponding pieces, including the RSVP card and a map, digitally. Â Overall, the suite reflected the happiness and love of the couple through what they do, and each other, shown through my love of paper goods.
