Sneak Peek: Martha Stewart Weddings Special Issue

The new special Real Weddings issue of Martha Stewart Weddings hits newsstands today – and I’m thrilled to share a special sneak peek with all of you! I always look forward to the beautiful invitations and paper details in the real weddings featured in the magazine, but for this issue the editors have also put together a fabulous stationery story with tons of inspiration!

As part of the new issue, the editors are showcasing wedding stationery with a bit of a twist. You won’t find any traditional invitation suites here – instead the editors are showing creative ideas from tiny cards to poster-sized invites, an accordion fold, and a rolled scroll, a strung-together stunner, and a boxed-up beauty. And of course there are invitations and paper galore in the real weddings featured in the issue!

Kim + Garrett’s Whimsical Illustrated NYC Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! We’re still trying to get over the cold that brought our entire family down late last week (I was the final victim over the weekend), so I’m off to a rather sluggish start to the week. Thankfully these whimsical New York City skyline wedding invitations from Katie Fischer Design are helping to brighten the morning!

From Katie: Kim and Garrett are both professors and they met and fell in love in New York City. For their invitations, they wanted the city reflected in an artful, whimsical way.

I did a charcoal, pencil, and watercolor drawing on textured watercolor paper of the New York City skyline using energetic, graffiti-like lines. I hand-painted metallic silver accents to the finished pieces. The suite is flat printed on thick white cover with charcoal gray envelopes.

Friday Happy Hour: The Aviation (Revisited)

We’re still getting settled into the new house and haven’t had much time to experiment with new cocktail recipes, so this week we thought we’d revisit one of our favorite classic cocktails – The Aviation! Made with a liqueur called Creme de Violette, this cocktail is the most lovely shade of pale blueish-purple and has a delicate and sweet floral taste. Even people who normally don’t like gin will love this drink!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone! It’s been another crazy week over here, but we’re slowly digging out from all of our boxes! Sadly, Sophie came down with a bad cold this week, so we’ve been spending a lot of time trying to help our poor congested baby feel better. After what feels like a lifetime of packing, moving, and now unpacking, we’re determined to do something fun this weekend! But in the meantime…

William’s Hospital Bracelet Baby Announcements

I couldn’t resist rounding out the week with one more baby announcement! I have all of our hospital bracelets saved in Sophie’s baby book at home, so these hospital bracelet baby announcements from Sarah Jane Winter seem like such a great idea! The bracelet opens to reveal a photo of baby William and his loving parents. So sweet.

From Sarah Jane: William’s father is a pediatrician that specializes in Neonatology (newborns) so I played with the idea of the new baby coming home from the hospital. A baby hospital bracelet was mimicked with the ‘vitals’ including name, date of birth, length, and weight. This was wrapped around the card and fastened with a button brad. A blue vellum sleeve wrapped the card.

The card was printed front and back with the photos I took of the family and a simple greeting.
