Letterpress + Gold Foil Cocktail Recipe Box Set

We’re known to enjoy a cocktail or two here at Oh So Beautiful Paper, so I was intrigued when Jessica from Suitor sent over her newest project: a box set of cocktail recipes in collaboration with a non-profit organization called Prescription Well Being.  The set includes six recipes letterpress printed on thick cotton paper and with a graphic striped pattern on the back – all enclosed in a cute box with “Barkeep!” printed in gold foil.  Such a fun idea!

From Jessica: We designed a set of cocktail recipe cards enclosed in a gold foil printed box as part of a collaboration with Prescription Well Being, a non-profit that provides on-site beauty treatments for women and children living with cancer.  The box set includes six recipe cards with favorite cocktails from Glossed & Found’s most memorable guests Kelly Wearstler, Bobbi Brown, Katrina Markoff, and Christina Zilber.

Each card is letterpress printed by Rohner Letterpress on Cordeon thick white stock, packed in a gold foiled stamped box, and paired with four vintage cocktails swizzle sticks (no two boxes are the same!).  All proceeds from sales of the box set will go to Prescription Well Being.

Sydney + Tim’s Rustic Wood Wedding Invitations

Sydney and Tim’s beautiful wedding invitations were inspired by the bride’s upbringing on a cattle ranch in rural Wyoming. Emily and Dianna from Fourth Year Studio created an invitation suite that was both rustic and elegant, pairing wood elements with classic black and white. So pretty!

From Emily and Dianna: Sydney and Tim were med students living in Minneapolis when they got engaged during a vacation in Italy!  Sydney grew up on a cattle farm in Wyoming and found herself looking back to her roots when planning the wedding.  She wanted the invitations to reflect the rustic beauty of her home state.  The main invitation was printed on wood with a letterpress printed rsvp postcard.  Black and white baker’s twine tied a vellum map around the invitation and rsvp to create a sophisticated yet rustic wedding invitation suite.

Sydney describes the beauty of the Big Sky at the ranch: ”I love the idea of having wooden invitations to echo the gorgeous pine and oak forests around our ranch.  The ranch is in a very rural area that is full of rolling hills, grazing deer, and lots of sky.  There is nothing as beautiful as the night sky in Wyoming.  Tim and I love to lay out in the grass in the summer and ooh and aah at the seemingly endless display.”

We incorporated Sydney’s hand-drawn sketch of the antlers throughout the set.  Since the wedding took place in a rural area it was important to provide a map and directions for guests.  We illustrated the map with icons for Devil’s Tower, the Clark Ranch, and the airport.  Down the center of the map was the South Dakota – Wyoming state line.

Jessica + Todd’s Art Deco Letterpress Wedding Invitations

As the days get darker and colder here in DC, I’ve started daydreaming (again) of a beach vacation somewhere warm and tropical.  Jackie from 42 Pressed sent over these beautiful Art Deco-inspired invitations for a winter wedding in Miami, which sounds pretty much perfect to me right now!  Jackie mixed period-appropriate fonts and design elements with a vibrant orange and blue color palette inspired by the beachside wedding venue.

From Jackie: Jessica and Todd are getting married in Miami. They were really going for an art deco feel in their wedding invitation design, while still remaining modern and fun (right up our alley). They wanted to play with a variety of fonts and have their colors really pop.  We went with a range of vintage-inspired fonts combined with some illustrated elements – all letterpress printed in an orange and ocean blue color palette.

Laura + Thomas’s Modern Kraft and Chevron Stripe Wedding Invitations

Laura’s DIY kraft paper save the dates were easily one of my favorite features from 2011, so it’s no surprise that I’m equally in love with her wedding invitations! Laura continued the kraft paper and chevron stripe elements from her save the dates, adding in beautiful letterpress printed pieces and a custom map printed on butcher block paper. Just gorgeous!

From Laura: Designing my own wedding invitations was the most challenging part of planning our wedding. Our wedding style was vintage modern with neutral colors and textures. I wanted to use a variety of paper colors, weights and different printing techniques. The main invitation was letterpress printed by Sensura Studio.

My sister and I hand screen printed the chevron pattern on the inside of the kraft envelope to match our save the dates. Instead of buying new postage stamps, I used all vintage ones from my grandma’s collection.

The other pieces I printed myself on my trusty home printer. My favorite part is the map, which I printed on text weight butcher paper from French Paper Co.

I used the leftover paper for our ceremony programs (which were sewn together), placecards, menus, etc. We had little jars of natural honey for wedding favors and I used my vintage typewriter to make tags and labels.

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone! I managed to come down with a nasty cold this week, which is still lingering despite my best efforts to chase it away with lots of soup and tea. Ick. Hopefully it’ll be gone by next week, and thankfully my husband has a three day weekend – because trying to care for an 8 week-old baby while sick? No fun. But in the meantime…
