Vintage Bicycle Birthday Party Invitations

I wasn’t a particularly sporty child, but bike riding was my absolute favorite activity growing up.  So when Ashley from Lemon and Lavender sent over these cute bicycle birthday party invitations, the first thing that popped into my head was how much I would have loved to celebrate one of my own birthdays with these invitations!

Ashley originally designed these invitations for her son’s first birthday party – complete with super-cute matching soda bottle labels:

You can find these invitations – this time with drink stirrers instead of soda bottle labels and fun striped envelope liners – in the Lemon & Lavender etsy shop.  Thanks Ashley!

Wedding Day-After Brunch Invitations

For Lindsay and Oren’s day-after wedding brunch invitations, Tova wanted to continue the modern design theme, but this time decided to go with something a bit lighter and more fitting for a Sunday brunch.  Using a bright yellow floral design and the gorgeous Nelly Script font for Lindsay and Oren’s names, the resulting invitation is full of happiness and sunshine!

From Tova: We wanted to create something contemporary, like the couple, but still pretty and “brunch-y.”  The open areas of the flower illustration printed amazingly, leaving an incredible tactile impression that I can’t stop touching.

The Nelly Script added a softness that meshes beautifully with the event.  We used bright white, 110lb. cotton lettra for the invitation, which like the rehearsal dinner invitation was printed by Patrick Masterson, and paired it with a cheery yellow envelope, which we printed “tone-on-tone” in sunshine-colored ink.  Happy and fun!

So, so beautiful – I love the yellow-on-yellow printing on the envelopes!  You can check out more of Tova’s past work here, and contact Tova here!

Modern Rehearsal Dinner Invitation

Happy Monday everyone!  I have two gorgeous invitations to help start off your week – invitations to a wedding rehearsal dinner, and then the invitations to the day-after brunch – both from Tova Glenn at Brighten My Day Studio and printed by Patrick Masterson.

First up, the rehearsal dinner invitations in a gorgeous chartreuse and gray color palette.  Tova incorporated a woven pattern into the design inspired by the modern décor at the rehearsal dinner venue, the James Hotel in downtown Chicago:

From Tova: We played off the look-and-feel of the James Hotel, a very modern, clean hotel with beautiful vintage patterns throughout the décor.  We all fell in love with the lines of the woven pattern, and mixed up the old-meets-new by pairing a classic serif font with a bold and modern sans-serif typeface.

The stock on both cards was a double thick museum board, and we paired it with a chartreuse envelope.

Gorgeous!  Check back a bit later for the equally-beautiful brunch invitations!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s so hot and humid at the moment here in DC that I can’t really think about anything other than giant iced teas and air conditioning.  I would wish for a hammock like the one below, but it’s almost too hot even for that!  Hopefully it’s a bit cooler where you are and you can get outside to enjoy your weekend.  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

And in case you missed it, a few favorite posts from this week:

That’s it for me this week!  I’ll be back on Monday, and I have a fun giveaway planned for all of you next week!  I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you all back here next week!

Pink + Gold Wedding Invitations

I spotted these save the dates and wedding invitations over on Paper Crave yesterday and they literally took my breath away.  From the delicate pink and gold color palette to the beautiful and flourishy Memoriam font, I just couldn’t resist sharing the gorgeousness over here as well.

The bride and groom, Kiera and Jean-Pierre, made both the invitations and save the dates by hand – from the letterpress printing to paper trimming to envelope lining – and chronicled the process on their flickr page.  First up, the Save the Dates, complete with gold edge painting, wrap-around address labels and a beautiful wax seal:
