Laura’s Floral Fabric 30th Birthday Party Invitations

Erin’s watercolor wedding invitations were among my favorites from 2012, so I was thrilled to hear from her again – this time with some invitations that she created for her sister Laura’s 30th birthday! These invitations reflect Erin’s love of sewing, with a beautiful fall-inspired corduroy fabric backing sewn to the kraft paper invitations using gold thread. Gorgeous!

From Erin: My sister, Laura, is a wedding photographer and loves gorgeous, printed invitations. For her 30th birthday, I wanted to merge her love of printed work and calligraphy with my love of sewing to add a special, personal touch. My jumping off point in the design was some gorgeous fall-esque corduroy fabric that I found at Colorado Fabrics, which I sewed onto the back of each invitation using gold thread. The green envelopes (addressed in my sister’s hand lettering) completed the invitation.

Tahlia’s Modern Mint + Coral Birth Announcements

Mint and coral is such a beautiful color combination for any occasion, but especially for baby announcements! Lynda from Greenstar Paperie designed these announcements for a fellow designer’s sweet baby girl this past spring. In addition to the coral and mint color palette, the announcements feature a modern floral pattern on the outside and photos of Tahlia (and her older brother) on the inside. Absolutely darling!

From Lynda: Tahlia’s mom, Corey, is a very talented designer and owner of CWP Design Studio in Philadelphia. So I knew this had to extra special. Corey loved the idea of a modern pattern, so we took that idea and ran with it. The mint and coral color scheme paired with a modern floral pattern gave this announcement a bit of sophistication, but was still sweet enough for Tahlia’s introduction into the world. The announcements were digitally printed on 120# eggshell ultrawhite card stock.

Corey also wanted some personalized stationery, so we created a flat note that could tuck neatly into the announcement for a personal note. The envelopes were finished with a darling label that was placed from front to back on the envelope to give the front of the envelope a hit of pattern and color.

Ann-Marie + John’s Colorful Save the Dates

We all fell in love with Ann-Marie’s beautiful hand lettered bridal shower invitations last week, and with such talented friends it’s no surprise that Ann-Marie’s save the dates would be equally fantastic! Ann-Marie and John are both graphic designers, so Ann-Marie was faced with the difficult task of merging their distinct design styles into a seamless save the date design. The final result features a fun accordion fold layout and lots of bright color!

From Ann-Marie: As two graphic designers with opposite styles, coming up with a unique save the date concept that would merge our two tastes together was easier said than done. My fiance John loves comic books and hand-lettering and I love clean lines and funky packaging. But finally, after many conversations and rejected mock-ups (save the dates are serious business!), we were able to meet in the middle.

Since the theme of our wedding is “Rustic Fiesta,” we have a pretty bold color palette. The actual save the date card is an accordion fold that features my typography and John’s illustration of our wedding venue.

We also added a simple yellow stripe pattern to the backside for an additional pop of color. To house the Save the Date card (and create anticipation for what’s to come), we adhered a glassine bag to a cream-colored card and stamped a custom design below the bag. To finish it off, a small strip of aqua washi tape was applied to the glassine envelope to keep the accordion fold card in place and draw out the suspense of opening our happy mail.

Seasonal Stationery: 2014 Calendars, Part 4

Last week I featured a few of my favorite write-on 2014 calendars, so this week I thought I’d head in the opposite direction and pull together a few favorite calendars that pull double duty as art for your walls! Simply find an open spot, hang one of these beauties, and enjoy year round! And for some, you can even cut the calendar part off at the end of the year and continue to enjoy the art as a stand alone print. What could be better?
