Allie + Ryan’s Baby Gender Reveal DVD Covers

Allie of Allie Ruth Design and her husband Ryan are expecting their first baby later this year (congrats you two!), and they wanted a fun way of sharing the baby’s gender with their family scattered around the country. They put together a sweet little video, burned some DVDs, and Allie printed these DVD covers using a rubber stamp with one of her illustrations. Too cute!

From Allie: For the announcement itself, we made a quirky video, but we needed a cute way to get the news to my family in Florida, and Ryan’s family here in the midwest (without giving it away to any of our friends first). So I burned the video onto some DVDs and created this block-printed sleeve in which to send them.

For the block, I had a custom rubber stamp made of one of my calligraphed illustrations. Our last name is Peach, so I was sure to incorporate a cute little peach at the bottom. I printed the image onto blank kraft DVD sleeves. For the envelope, we went with a gender neutral mint, so as to not give away the secret before our families saw the video.

I used my vintage typewriter to print each set of grandparents’ names onto little handmade, vintage-inspired tags and tied them on with black and white baker’s twine.

Thanks Allie – and congratulations again!

Nickolas + Angela’s Neon Pink Illustrated Wedding Invitations

These wedding invitations from Alia and Jason of Darling Press & Stationers are just about the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen! The invitations feature an illustration by the bride and groom’s daughter as the primary focus of the design (love!), along with pops of neon pink and colorful edge painting (double love!).   Such a wonderful idea for an already meaningful invitation!

From Alia: This is a wedding suite for a very charming couple. Angela and Nickolas asked us to design their wedding invitation using a drawing created by their daughter. Since we have children of our own and have letterpress printed their art, we felt we were a good match for the project. The entire suite was printed with grey and neon pink ink and edge painted with fluorescent pink.

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Here Comes the Bride Signs

Clearly I’m loving large-scale stationery statements at weddings lately! My motto for the year is “giant is the new mini,” after all. Today we’re talking signs for the ceremony. For those brides out there who want a special introduction (and why wouldn’t you!?), why not have the little ones in your wedding party carry down a “Here Comes the Bride” sign? A little fancy calligraphy, a colorful DIY variety, I love them all! Here’s a few fun banners to get you started (and a few adorable kids sporting them!). — Kelly

Beth + Eric’s “Come Away With Us” Destination Wedding Invitations

It has officially been over a year since my last vacation, so these destination wedding invitations from Beth at BC Design have me dreaming of a getaway on the Riviera Maya! Beth was inspired by their beach wedding venue, choosing a natural color palette and wave patterns throughout the invitation. Beautiful!

From Beth: The inspiration behind my wedding invitations came about after choosing Riviera Maya Mexico as my wedding location. The Mexican patterns and beautiful beaches along the coast helped bring my vision to life. Black seaweed covers parts of the beach creating interesting patterns and shapes near the shore. The simple color palette of tan and black was chosen to mirror the beach where the ceremony would take place.

I wanted my invitations to be simple and elegant but to also reflect the fun atmosphere of the resort we chose. Because it is a destination wedding,  I included some hints of travel throughout each piece. The same pattern is repeated throughout the invitation to mimic the jet stream and the waves of the ocean. The intricate detail of the jet stream and wave pattern is also repeated with-in the heart that is found on a few of the pieces.
