Gemma’s Modern Footprint Baby Announcements

Ah – tiny footprints! Designer Kate Holgate created these darling baby announcements for the first child of her dear friend. Inspired by bright jewel tones and fabric, Kate created modern announcements that are full of pattern and personality. And of course we can’t forget the beautiful photo of the sweet newborn!

From Kate: My dear friend, Heather, asked if I might be willing to design her first baby’s announcements. Heather and her husband, Mike, are a fun, hip, wonderful couple. Heather and I chose bright jewel tones. Inspired by some fabric, I created a modern pattern for the announcement and utilized modern type to display the birth information.

To create an element of surprise, I asked Heather to give me a scan of her daughter’s newborn footprint for the front of the z-folded card. Crissie McDowell took Gemma’s photos. We tied the piece together with a “G is for Gemma” monogram and mailed the announcements in bright fuchsia envelopes. Gemma made her debut to family and friends in style.

Baby Growth Charts

This feels like a big milestone: but now that Sophie is fully mobile, we’re finally ready to get a growth chart! I always knew that I wanted something that we’d be able to take with us if we move, so I’m leaning towards a wooden growth chart that we can hang on the wall. Here are a few options that I currently have my eye on!

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Constellations

It’s no secret that constellations are quite beloved around here. I figured it was about time they got their time in the wedding stationery spotlight! I’ve seen so many stunning was to incorporate constellations into everything from table numbers (hello creative seating chart!) to signage, including a truly amazing wedding genealogy chart. And how about a stargazing excursion on the eve of your wedding!? But first, some paper goodies to leave you starry eyed. (Couldn’t resist.) —Kelly

NYNOW Winter 2014, Part 1

Hello from NYC! I’m still working my way through hundreds of photos (and counting) from the NYNOW winter 2014 market – which I can’t wait to share with you! But in the meantime, I thought I’d give you a quick peek at just a few of the standouts from the show. First up, the amazing handcrafted (and colorful!) kites and quilts from Haptic Lab! The sailing ship kites are just incredible in person, but I’m equally in love with the bright colors and patterns in the signature kites, too!

As you may have seen on Instagram, I’m pretty much dying over the amazing constellation quilt above. It definitely ranks up there as one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen!
