Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Bold Florals

Who else is craving spring!? I can’t bring you warm weather and blooming botanicals, but I can bring you a little floral goodness in the form of wedding stationery! I’ve been seeing bold, dramatic floral prints popping up here and there for day-of wedding paper, and I can’t say I’m complaining! In fact, it’s a motif I’m hoping to use for my very own upcoming wedding. For those of you that love flowers just as much as me, and don’t think just the fresh variety is enough, these paper pretties are for you! —Kelly

Crescent & Anchor Letterpress Business Cards

It’s always a treat when I get to showcase some beautiful custom letterpress business cards! Jacqueline Marque is an editorial, documentary and lifestyle photographer based in Newport, Rhode Island. In addition to offering portrait, interior, and lifestyle photography, she works as a staff photographer for The Newport Daily News, the arts and entertainment weekly Mercury, and the bimonthly lifestyle magazine Newport Life. Busy lady! After rebranding her photography website and blog Crescent & Anchor, where she shares her work and tidbits of domestic life, she was excited to commission her very own letterpress business cards!

From Jacqueline: After many months of working closely with the designers at SPACECAMP CO on branding for my photography business and blog, I was excited to have an excuse to commission my very own letterpress business cards. They were designed by Danielle Brodersen of SPACECAMP CO and printed by hand, using an antique tabletop press, by Christy Schneider of Inkello.

I wanted my photography business and blog to have sister logos that would be similar but each stand on their own. From the start of the design process, I envisioned corresponding logos on a double-sided card. I wanted the branding to have a vintage feel but still look fresh and modern. The fonts Mercury Script and Neutraface helped us achieve that balance.

The cards were printed on 220 lb. Crane paper. One side is blind embossed with my logo, which combines an anchor and a fleur-de-lis. Aqua edge-painting adds a splash of color to the simple gray and white design.

The designs and tag line, “Life & Style from the River to the Sea,” are references to my two homes, Newport and New Orleans. The Crescent & Anchor logo draws inspiration from the water meter covers in the Crescent City (seen below).

Carly + David’s Glamorous Coral and Gold Foil Wedding Invitations

Designer Alisa Bobzien sent over these wedding invitations that she recently created using one of my favorite color palettes: coral, gray, and gold foil. So classic, right? Created for a glamorous wedding in Michigan, the invitation suite includes several complementary patterns, botanical details, and of course some shiny gold foil. So pretty!

From AlisaI created this custom invitation suite and day-of print material for a glam autumn Michigan wedding. The ingredients for this design were a range of coordinating custom patterns, a botanical element as a nod to their venue (the Planterra Conservatory), and a honeycomb pattern because the groom is a beekeeper and honey maker in Brooklyn.

I worked closely with the event designer Viva La Diva Events, who provided art direction. The invitation suite was printed on double-thick luxe cotton savoy paper with gold foil stamping, and included printed envelope liners featuring a custom pattern that coordinated with the gold motif border of the dinnerware.

Many of the guests were also from out of state so we highlighted the bride and groom’s favorite local destinations with a custom illustrated map that was included in the hotel welcome bags.

I also designed thank you notes, a welcome itinerary, signage, programs, dinner menus, cocktail menu, favor stickers, dessert signage, table numbers, escort cards and foil-stamped cocktail napkins.

Red, Blush Pink, + Gold Wedding Invitations

Valentine’s Day may have been last week, but I love the idea of a red and pink color palette all year long – don’t you? I couldn’t resist sharing these pretty red, blush pink, and gold wedding invitations from Megan Wright Design Co. The design is romantic and playful with lots of flourishes and classic serif text. So fun!

From Megan: I was thrilled to be asked to design this invitation suite for a fairytale inspired Valentine’s Day shoot for Events by Katherine V. Candy apple red complemented by rich gold and sweet pink accents inspired me to create a suite that was unexpectedly bold, yet feminine.

As if announcing a royal engagement, I made use of flourishes to create an ornate, floral inspired pattern that evoked feelings of heraldry. A bold serif font worked with the ornamentation to create a look that was fit for a modern day princess without becoming too formal.
