{happy weekend!}

So now that our big news is out, it’s time to wish you all a wonderful weekend!  Next week, the husband and I are jetting off to St. Lucia for a few days of rest and relaxation – I can’t wait!  While we’re away I’ll be sharing a little mini guide to DC, from restaurants to shops to museums.  I hope you enjoy the guide!  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

That’s it for me this week!  We’re taking a quick break from Cocktail Fridays until after we get back from our trip, but if you’re looking or a fun recipe to try this weekend – try two of my favorite recipes so far: the Aviation or Vieux Mot.  Have a wonderful weekend!  xoxo

Sean + Tori’s Modern Primary Color Wedding Invitations

I’m loving these modern wedding invitations from Jaime of Ketchup and Mustard!  Jaime designed the invitations for good friends Sean and Tori, incorporating custom lettering and a cheerful palette of primary colors.  Such a joyful and vibrant wedding invitation suite for a fun and energetic couple!

From Jaime: Sean and Tori are an energetic, fun-loving couple that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for over four years.  They were married in Raleigh, North Carolina in October.  It was only natural that the wedding stationery reflect their natural energy and fun personalities.

The custom lettering used for the couple’s names was adapted from the logo I designed for Tasty Beverage Company, a specialty retail beer store Sean opened last summer in downtown Raleigh.  On the accompanying map, Sean and Tori are illustrated as their favorite food and drink, a beer and a biscuit giving each other a high five.

Thanks Jaime!

Catherine + Ted’s Modern and Rustic Faux Bois Wedding Invitations

Sarah from Truly Smitten sent over these beautiful invitations that she designed for a friend’s wedding this summer, incorporating a sophisticated faux bois pattern and playful typography for a modern take on rustic wedding invitations.  Sarah worked with Kseniya from Thomas Printers to letterpress print the entire invitation suite, including the adorable RSVP card and envelopes.

From Sarah: I had the honor of designing a dear friend’s wedding invitation suite for this summer.  Catherine and Ted are having their wedding at a rustic vineyard in California with lots of elements of wood and nature.

I incorporated the faux bois woodgrain style and chose a more whimsical, informal typography style since I wanted to reflect the couple’s fun, laid back personalities.  The wedding suite was letterpress printed by Thomas Printers on Crane’s Flourescent White Lettra.

Thanks so much Sarah!

Curious George-Inspired Birthday Party Invitations for Lawson

Happy Leap Day everyone!  Julie from Duet Letterpress sent over the most adorable letterpress invitations that she designed and printed for a first birthday party last summer.  These invitations were inspired in part by the invitations that Julie created for her daughter Emily’s first birthday, featuring both an invitation to the birthday celebration along with a certificate marking important milestones during Lawson’s first year.

From Julie: To celebrate Lawson’s first birthday, his parents threw him a party inspired by Curious George.  They wanted something similar to Em’s invitations, but in the style of his party.  In addition to Curious George, the party was a vintage take on classic stories.  Rustic red, pale blue, navy, and a cheerful yellow made up the party’s color palette.

Lawson’s foot and hand prints were letterpress printed true to size.  Lawson was tiny at birth, and his feet were only 1 3/4″ long!  We made the “year of firsts” card a different size from the actual invitation and bound them together with yellow twine.  Finally, a two color, letterpress printed, wraparound mailing label was affixed to each pale blue envelope.

Thanks so much Julie!

Indian Pattern Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Sara from Inkprint Letterpress sent over these gorgeous letterpress wedding invitations that she recently designed inspired by Indian patterns.  I love the bright colors and intricate details!

From Sara: I love working with vibrant colors and eye catching designs.  This invitation is a three color design with an intricate Indian pattern.  This would be perfect for a summer wedding – the gorgeous details and color would set the right tone for an unforgettable event.

The invitation was hand letterpress printed on 100% cotton paper in pink, orange, and silver.  These vibrant colors were the perfect match for this intricate Indian pattern.

Thanks Sara!
